If you feel like this is something you could get, you should first try V-Station, cause the sound is similar(?) to the ks-series, just more functions.

You can get a nice analog monosynth for that cash, or a cheap poly like the Juno 60 and maybe a Monopoly, MS-20.
If you want a good all around synth, you can get a Nord Modular/Lead.
Consider a Creamware system with a nice controller. I prefer the sound of the Creamware synths to the Virii.           Me>You

aaplegkaart - if you want to buy software so buy soft with good sound engine.
Software:
AAS
Korg legacy
Novation
Native Instrument

Hardware:
Access - Virus A/B/C/....
Clavia - Nord Lead 2/2X
Novation - K Station/Supernova 2
Roland - JP8080/8000/Juno 60/Jupiter 6/SH 101/
Korg - MS20

every synth has its own different sound,so read more review's about those synth and than go try them

good luck

Novation synts sound that bad so even their plugin can replace those IMHO.

i wouldn't say that novation synths are bad.
i've had a-station and now ks4 and i love it.
oh and ks4 sounds much much better that v-station.           www.venomous2.com

well i don't see the point in this argument.
but the sounds on novation synths can only be as good as you can program them to be.

i don't know your criteria of "dull" but i personally like ks4's liquidish feel. and it's far more advanced then A or K or V station.           www.venomous2.com

ha ha ha ha
thanks

by the way, i don't do psy anymore, just hard trance and acid trance, not for the money or fame, i just don't like the direction psy scene is headed towards to
and ks4 i only use for basses and drones.           www.venomous2.com

Dull = not intresting like Nord Lead sound, IMHO.

anyway, nice music on your website, sound is dull

i admit, i don't go for top notch neo psy sounds in my projects for reasons, but calling my sound dull is kind of rude.

just think about it this way, i choose sounds that "I" want to hear in my tracks, and what other people would love to hear in it concerns me less. but that doesn't give anyone the right to justify them as dull or judge them.

i would appreciate your honest opinion about "my sound", only if i asked for it. but i have not. something to think about.

novation isn't the only thing i use though.
there's tb303 sound, of course emulated by mb33 mkII and doepfer ms404, there's also plg150an, ms2000r and few vsti's.

anyway, whatever, cheers.
i see your opinion is biased on your personal feelings about novations.          www.venomous2.com

In your price range i'd go for a second hand novation nova , its a very versatile synth ,very nice for tweaking and yes i like the novation sound from the old classic bassstation to the newer models , cheers            Peace, Love, Death metal
