Hardware noise problem :-(((((

I am pretty puzzled at the moment, because I thought I had major issues with my sound card, I had random bursts of noises comming out when I would play vsts through midi in my sequencer. I have looked around a few forums, and found out that it seems to be a common issue with motu 828 mkII, so I figured the problmem was my card. But still I've tried reinstalling my os, installing a different os, drivers, disbling drivers and devises, using different sequencers, pretty much everything, but nothing worked. So today i told my self wtf, I'll try out my onboard 7.1 hd card, and to my fking surprise after a few seconds the thing bursts out with noises.
So I guess the fault of my motu, but rather something wrong with my mobo, or one of my hardware components. It's strange because it used to work perfectly fine. If you have any ideas what so ever, I could probably use a few hints... |

I had problems with my Sata controller giving noises into the soundcard, no matter which PCI slot was used. So I figure it can be a mobo problem.
 Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Did you try raising the latency. if its low (<7) it might be the source.
Are the cables from your sound card to the monitors streched out? mne were and got fucked up and made noise.

maybe you have a problem with the ground loop...
you can have distorting noises coming from
little differences in resistance between the laptop and the other hardware (like mixer and stuff)...
you need some kind of ground loop isolator...

there is liitle description what it does....
also there are a lot of different ones on the market and you can pay from 15$ to 200$...
i always had a cheap one, and it works fine...
second way of solving the problem is to make special power cable without connected ground..,
but i would suggest to get one of the GLIs....
not sure, if its the problem though, but maybe...maybe....

9/10 ?
it's true that motu is more mac focused, but i never had problems with my motu traveler when hooked up with any of my pc's. I also know some other people with motu products running smooth.

ground loop problem? i don`t really think so..i mean those Di boxes just make the signal balanced through induction..and its neccesary for..if you gotta way of like 5 to 10 meters to cover..like on a stage to a monitor desk or stagebox or whatever..doesn`t the motu has balanced in/outs?
i would try different interfaces if possible..not just the onboard..like i would try to get one firewire based and usb based and for you pci based..but could definatly be a hardware issue inside your machine i guess..couse like ground loop noize is usually not random noise..
or/and cover all your wires in your room with aluminium foil..
looks cool and misterious..haha
but maybe even a bit too crazy..

9 out of 10 in a million for example is 900.000 so the rest 100.000 are happy with the performance.. 
they are fantastic interfaces but do have issues with pcs and specially with some firewire chips.

Hello to all,
I know the ground loop issue does occur with laptops however It's hooked up to my desktop so i doubt it's a ground loop. I've tried raising the latency and buffer size, but I still get the same thing...
I realize now that a lot of people on pc's do have issues with motu, but the fact that onboard produces the same problem, it makes me question the nature of the problem, especially since everything was working fine for a few months. I'll try to get my hands on a different interface and see if i get the same problem.

btw after the noise starts bursting, i can eliminate it by turning of the vst, but once I turn it back on the noise continues, but it's level diminishes. |

About the firewire, yes its true, but they state in the manual, an probably also in their website, that it has to be intel or texas instruments chipset
