i have found a sample on gearslutz , all tracks are proccessed with the aurora audio gtq2 and logic plugs for some compression,there is something no? it make the same vibe as the neve clone ,almost rise my hair,love the sound , it s far from beeing digital and cold to me ,the neve sound is just killer grrr need to save money
http://www.gearslutz.com/board/attachments/work-progress-advice-requested-show-tell-artist-showcase-mix-offs/149933d1261691338-gtq2-all-tracks-prize.mp3

*Vocals: SM7B --> GTQ2 (+4-6db high-shelf, high-pass, small cuts in mids) --> AD10
*E. Guitar: Strat --> Keeley C. --> Mesa --> SM57 --> GTQ2 (high-pass) --> AD10
*Bass: direct to GTQ2 (some high-shelf roll off, +2-4db low shelf) --> AD10
*Ac. Guitars: SM7B --> GTQ2 (high pass, mid cuts, tons of high-shelf boost) --> AD10
*Keys: direct to GTQ2 (high-pass) --> AD10

Drums:
*Kick: Beta52 --> GTQ2 (-8db @ 400Hz, high-shelf rolled off) --> AD10
*Snare: SM57 --> GTQ2 (high-pass, -4db @ 400Hz) -->AD10
*Toms: SM57 & no namer --> yamaha mixer (can't remember which) --> Ensemble
*Overheads: SM57s --> Ensemble
*High-hat: SM7B --> Ensemble

afaik the gtq2 is not a neve clone.. was designed by an ex-neve engineer but yeah, he said himself it isn't supposed to be a clone. it's a great piece tho, the vocals especially sound really nice in that clip. but i think that clip would still sound warm without it. good source which is well recorded is gonna sound nice anyway. when you are recording a really nice guitar through a really nice amp, the preamp/channel strip does not make that much difference to the sound. in fact for fattening up digital synth parts/vst sound etc i would recommend re-amping the parts through your monitors or even an amp, then blend that signal in with the original. tricks like that can make much more difference then just going through a channel strip.

i found it interesting you felt infected mushroom's stuff had a warm creamy vibe though. i always found infected mushroom's production to be very thin and plasticy. not what i think of when i think about warmth or 'analog' sound in electronic music. compare it to something like royksopp's latest for example, or french house type stuff.

maybe you re right ,so you think it comes not from the pre?i m sot sure you would get that vibe with a rme preamp or a clean one?honeslty i doubt it,i can feel the same flavor with my friend tracks make me almost sure it s the pre that give that warmth and creamy sound ( im not sure 100% cause he sum everytrack in a old expensive desk, it could help too,even a vsti sound fucking huge after the pre and the desk its far from beeing transparent),i guess it can be clean or colored when pusched with the output transformer ,its reminding me the sound of some psychedlic tracks from the 70 and i associate that to the neve sound, about infected i dont know much there sound, i juslt felt the same vibe as my friend track,same depth and speration ,they definetly don t sound like using only plugins but i didn t like their production on the few tracks i listened.
about the pre it s not a clone he tried to make them better i guess

I want to try out the Decapitator but it says you need a ILOK USB. I don't have one. Is there anyway to do this without one?

URS Saturation is really nice, altough not as flexible in sound as DECAP, it is very cpu friendly that makes is very usable in small amounts on alot of tracks. Demo period was only 10 days so I didnt feel I really got to check it out fully, but I think Im going to pick it up.

Get an iLok and youll have alot of fun just demoing all the good software plugs Software has come a long way!           http://www.myspace.com/fragletrollet

i have afraid i have to buy some plugs if i demo them and i m broke saving for elektron hehe, always saving to buy new toys...but later this years i might try them, have you tried the psp squad ?can saturate nicely on some source when pushing the output with the sat .
im thinking more and more to buy some analog synths laters...could maybe be close to the same price as buying plugings for warming vsti,it could make more difference for the money (using the synth and ruuning some vsti/tracks into it,maybe a small modular build for that would work great )
