i think this is the kinda stuff you mean...
check out lab4, anything on tinrib, anything by jon doe, eve records...
thats sorta what we would call hard trance over here. to be honest i'm no expert but i (unfortunately  ) know lots of people who are and the above is what they rave about so have a listen...

Hard trance... should be any trance that's hard! Like Skazi...
But there is "hardtrance" (more comercial type of trance) which often has one hard distorted sound together with the beat (which make it more hard)... It can be found on albums like "Goliath"... very cheesy.
