dont be confused just turn it down
the master channel i meen...
if the compressor not helping then probably you just like those peaks.. and its great
have your music alive
but ... make sure its really what you want..
test this lead in other eq , in other room and speakers.. make sure its not too much.. if not then cool leave it like that.
another thing i notice , is that 70% of the peaple work in extreme low volume (cause its night usualy hehe) , goddammit.. its not the proper way.. bob k recomend mix in 83db spl and i reken for my tracks its by far more percise mix since working like that(this will bring more acoustic problems to solve etc.) |

i m not used to use compression for that but you ll have to use very fast attack to handle the transients ,tweak the treshold so the comp works only when needed. that can lead you too some distortion so maybe a limiter could be more suited .(and you may have some overshout even with the fastest attack on a comp so it ll still not fix your problem ) |

Sounds more like a space/EQ problem. If you can only hear the sound clearly when its clipping the mix, and there is no presence when you've tried to tame it with a compressor/limiter - you might have something else fighting for that frequency space
