I just don't get it what people see in hallucinogens music.. i mean it's just:
boom boom boom boom boom..
kind a boring if you ask me.. and it sounds old..
this is just my opinion so don't get mad..
shpongle & dub trees are sweet sweet sweet..
but im more into chilling music anywayz |

i agree with u on the chill out music.
and simon himself sad that he enjoy more to do chill music coze it not have the rules.
but if u ask which chill/ambient music better for me - PATCHWORK !! |

Saying Hallucinogen is just "boom boom boom" is just wrong. He's the one that makes a psy track with the depth and spirit of goa tracks, and even has some wicked beats in his music too :)
the production on some of his tracks isn't all that... But the music is genius.
As for Shpongle - in chillout it's not 100% my style, but you have to admit the music has a whole story to it....

well i listen to all "genre" of trance. And from all the artists ive listened to, i dont think hallucinogen/simon posford is the only person who can combine all genre of music. Youve got Delta/X-dream whos got the psy trance and whatever you call it(techno, minimal), Wizzy noise(techno/full on, some goa-ish). Well, i think all those well known and talented artists out there are able to combine all the "genre" of music if they wanted to, but maybe its just not there style. I dont think simon posford is the ONLY one. I mean look at Infected mushroom, they combine jazz, classic, d`n`b, trance in their songs(ex. the messenger). |

The fact is, that there's no one, and I repeat NO ONE in the trance scene which is even close to being as musicaly diverse as Posford (with the possible exception of Eat Static, since they're band members of Ozric Tentacles, and Eat Static is a pretty diverse act in itself). But the fact is, that he can make a track like Gamma Goblins, and have it on the same CD as Jiggle of the Sphinx. He can make in the same year one of the most evil tracks of all times like Thugs in Tye-Dye and in the same year one of the least evil tracks like Spiritual Antiseptic.
It would have been deadly surprising... Unless it was Posford. It's not that other people CAN'T do it. The sad part is that they WON'T. And I was in his live act, and it defined for me what a live act should be like. The fact that his music is so diverse gave amazing depth to his music, and the only combining touches between all of his tracks are those deep brain frying ideas, and if you have enough of those in one night, you just know... This is 100% pure, extremely psychedelic, and god damn good trance.
With all due respect to so many other acts I've seen live (and yes, that includes X-Dream, GMS, Son Kite, IM, whatever), no one else has done that to me. No one else touched my soul with his music like that.
That's why Posford is a genius. Not because of the quality of his music (which is debatable, even though I think it's great), it's how deep he can take you into it. And the only ones who come a tiny bit close to that are Koxbox and *maybe* Juno Reactor and Doof.
