our scene is still much better than many places in the country but unlike previous years good shows dont come by that often anymore...so we kinda are in a little danger |

hahahahah,
so San Francisco is in danger of falling off the map because some of us took a little break to make people appreciate things...
when there was 4 parties a month very few people came out... as the parties happen less often we are seeing a much better turn out at the family size events... The giant Somarts parties will happen when we get the community focused again...
when many collectives are going off in there own directions you will see a time when things seem to shrink but what is happening is each crew is lighting new fires in new areas and actually helping to spread the community into new directions...
What needs to happen more often is a multi psy and edm events that will attract a good cross section of the community and help to convince the hardcore genre nuts that they can still have a good time at an event that is not polarized to one style of music all night... be it Fullon, Neuro/Trauma, Proggy or whatever... our roots had a good mix of this so lets keep some positive elements of tradition alive and offer a proper balance in one gathering...
under one roof, and even in one room...
take this event for instance...
http://geomagnetic.tv/events/Phantasmagoria7.html
the main room has a powerful curve all evening...
starting with proggy, going to more full on, then on to harder sounds and resolving into some downright ferocious stuff... as the curve gets more intense on the mainfloor the other rooms each change to balance it... with old school goa played up stairs as the heaviest beets are pounding downstairs and in the lounge it gets a 420 chill vibe for those who need a break =-)
now if more events could have this kind of concious curve to the energy I think we will see more folks from all walks of trance having a good time and come together to embrace their community...
sincerely,
Spook |
