ok i guess these are the obvious contenders for the software sampler of choice. i need help on deciding which to get.. plz
kontakt is an excellent sampler with so many options and addons yet i have the impression thats evenlighter on cpu than halion. butttt, i feel is sometimes too twisted and taks me too long t get the results i want.
halion i woulnt call simple butis far more intuitive and within a few minutes i was getting nasty sounds from any sample. only thing is i think is a bit cpu hungry.
SO guys any thoughts or favorites???
wat i had thought is use kontakt as a player for multisampled instruments and halion for pur sonic destruction. well comments wellcome |

I love HALion ,actually for me is lighter than kontakt. I tried both and honestly Kontakt has "too" many options, that i dont need., i use halion for my sampled basslines, for libraries and also for sound designing and work really great, both do the same as u know is just a matter of choice, try one week with each sample and see wich one u get better and faster results |

I suggest downloading the demos and figuring out which works best for your needs. When it comes down to it a sampler is a sampler. They all perform the same basic functions but also have their specific "bells and whistles" that they are good at.
Personally I prefer Kontakt but that is because I have been using it since v1.0 and I don't like or feel the need to learn new software all the time so I stick to what I know.
Grab both demos and try setting up the exact same patch in each from scratch. Which is faster to set up? Which is easier to use and stills provides the results you are after? Which has a sound library that you are most likely going to use? Which performs better on the CPU? Which will automatically make me espresso without me asking? Which loads my existing sample library the most efficiently? Which has the fewest bug reports? These are the questions I would be asking myself if I was looking for a sampler. |
