the HD is crap but it's a laptop, so don't expect much... The data-bus speed is very high for a laptop, which is great!! This is a very good laptop for the price |

Awesome, those were qucik replies! Cheers!
What about the sound card, it says "Sound 3D Soundblaster Pro compatible 16 bit" whatever that means.
is it some shit sound card they're giving away?
also, if i get this lappy, i'd like to use it for production. is that a good or bad move?

It looks like a great machine for the price, as long as you don't intend to do serious multitrack audio on it. The HDD isn't the best for audio - it's even slower than the 5400 rpm you normally get with laptops (ideally you want 7200 rpm) but it's a good size. I'm not sure about the ExpressCard slot (I'm guessing this is the laptop version of PCI Express... I've not heard of any audio card manufacturers who support it and I don't know if it's compatible with regular Cardbus cards so if you intend to replacing an existing audio laptop with this one I'd strongly recommend investigating more closely.

7200 rpm can't be nocive to the laptop because of overtheating ? ^^
i've got a friend of mine that bought one of Acer's Ferrari and about 1.5 hours he needs to turn of the laptop because of the overheating ...

No am not replacing an existing laptop.
Its just that i won't get a good deal like this again.
They also have toshiba's and ACER laptops. any of these better than the HPs?
@0v3rd0s3d: for now 1GB ram is enough for me man. about the soundcard, if its as good as the sounblaster live series i think i'll be happy for now. maybe later when my music gets better i'll buy a good one.

Well I myself am quite a "Toshiba" guy in terms of laptops, had an HP already and gave me compability problems but it was a problem with the graphics card, had to sell it and loose lots of money. But that was bad luck (and is not same graphic card from this HP)
But Bharath, I´d warn you on the processor, the HP i had was also 3.4 P4 and it overheated A LOT!! Sometimes it even shutdown itself due to heat (new intel processors shut down when reach a certain temperature to prevent burning!). So from my opinion and experience thats just to much processor speed for a laptop. Not only this problem but the fans are constantly On, I sent my HP to repair 2 times because of noise and it always came back and they said it was normal, but it sounded REALLY loud!
I now have a toshiba centrino 1.86Ghz and its actually performing better than the HP P4 3.4 . Its also quite robust and solid, and very silent. This is my 3rd toshiba laptop and I´ve always been satisfied, but that depends from person to person, some prefer some brands, some others. Luck also plays an important part of the game ...
If you can get centrino instead of P4 i would recomend that for laptop...
And about ACER, I would never buy an ACER laptop though...I´ve seen too many ppl having problems with those...
For me Toshiba rulezzz hehe |

Hey Thanks guys! you guys have been of grest help.
@FluoSamsara (Oxygen)- Thanks for replying! I will look into the Toshiba as well.
Now, from the replies, it seems like having a really fast configuration also can be harmful. Thats seems strange to me.
OK, one final question and then thats it i won't bother anyone else!
According to you guys what do you think will be an ideal laptop to buy? in terms of efficiency.
the thing is when i saw the HP laptop, i hoguht it was an awesome machine but i didn't think about things like overheating, HDD speed, noise etc etc, all i was looking for was how powerful it was which is obviously the wrong way to choose.
So, In terms of efficiency(for music production) can anyone suggest some configurations, Please?!
Thanks Again!
