In my computers, hackintosh runs twice times better than windows. The audio aplication also runs very well. Ableton 6 and logic 8!
And the Crossover(Wine for OSX) runs very well some windows aplications in the hackintosh... Counter Strike runs better on it than in windows!

I am using one it works perfectly except it wants to shut down sometimes if I am not doing anything. Like if I go and eat and maybe wait 10 minutes then it's off. Not always but sometimes, I think it might have to do with the harddrive going in standby and then telling the computer somehow to shut down completely. Other than that, I love OS X, and I love logic and I never enter my XP anymore except for some gaming. It also won't shut down all the time like a normal Pc so I have to manually hold the powerbutton for a couple of seconds, but who cares? I can fix these things with a kernel fix but I am to lazy and don't want different problems to maybe occur when everything else is working so nicely.
My setup
Intel Core2duo 3 ghz (OC to 3,6ghz)
Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS4 (Gigabyte is pretty solid for building hacks)
The rest is not so important as long as you are using SATA, the only thing needed a fix was the graphics. The rest worked right of perfectly, sound, network and so on.

What happens is that your kernel and motherboard are not compatible with sleep mode.
Go to: System Preferences > Energy Saver > and put sleep to NEVER
That will fix

I recently built a studio computer as well and successfully installed a vanilla install of OSX to it.
Vanilla means that I haven't touched any file of the original bought OSX (10.5.x and 10.6.x) to make it work!
I just used Chameleon as bootloader.
The only thing which is not really working at the moment is restarting and sometimes shutting down.
So when I hit shutdown, osx shuts down but the computer stays turned on.
It was was quite tedious to get all components play well together but I think now its done *knockonwood*
(simply hardware matching wise as well, big cpu cooler, passive graphic card and the protools pcix cards )

At the moment I use windows xp since some A.I.R Plugins(Hybrid, Structure) simply run better on windows than on OSX.
I am excited about upcoming updates
