Lots of components are confirmed as working, others are not. You may have to compromise on a few elements. Google the products for compatibility. Somebody is bound to have tested them.

Not necessarily, it runs even on AMD. I run it on Intel Quad Core. As long as it's possible to run it on a custom made PC i can't see any reason investing in Apple PC, or a Mac as some people still used to call it.           >>> FOR SALE: Mac-clone OSX86 Audio Workstation <> Perfect computer for Logic 9 Pro <<<

Yes, intel is not needed, i installed IDeneb 10.5.6 on an AMD X2 Dual core with NForce chipset, kernel voodoo with some kernel extensions (kext).

To run perfectly, you need a motherboard with Intel Chipset(P35, P45, etc...) with a Intel Core Processor(Dual Core, Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad...).

With other configurations you can run, but you can´t update for a example....

I have a dual boot on my Dell laptop because I wanted to try out Mac OS X before making a huge purchase and it works fine for me. I gave logic a try just to see...but decided I'm Cubaser for life now.

Anyway...Mac OS X is cool, but I'm not 100% convinced I want to spend the extra money for a Mac.           ~Airyck~

I started with PC, then just for fun made it a tripleboot hackintosh, XP, Vista...

then I exchanged the motherboard, Ram and processor. New chipset etc.

The only OS that was still running proplerly was OSx...

Even though its not even supposed to run on that machine at all.. Whereas XP and VIsta where at home they were completely fucked up...

I somehow got used to OSX, I missed and miss some things, but the good things are just more.. so later on I bought a mac pro and later a macbook pro. Financially it almost killed me, but now I'm so happy with it.. I'd say it was worth it. Recently I completely took my macbook pro apart to upgrade the harddrive. I was highly impressed by the easyness of it and by the built quality inside. I just had to look at it for a while before I changed the HD.. only that I had to take the whole thing apart just to replace the HD was a bit annoying.. but still worth it

Especially obvious is the difference in live play, since I've never had a hickup during life since I'm on mac. they were small with windows too, but they were there.

If you want to make your own hackintosh:

1: Get the right distro (hackintosh version of OSX) for example iPC 10.5.6 which comes with lots of drivers included.
2: Use tested components http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showforum=85 look what configurations work and how they got it to work and copy paste then it is a pretty sure bet.. still a lot of work and time will be needed though.

Are you using Cubase on your Mac Subconsciousmind? I'm curious if it runs well on an actual Mac.

I had some glitches when running it on my Hackintosh version so I've been just using my windows install lately.

Though I used Ableton with my hackintosh install during a performance and it was completely stable all the way through.

I may end up getting a Macbook Pro for performing and keep producing on a PC in the studio.           ~Airyck~

Yes I use cubase on mac. Cubase 4 and 5.

It's the same like on windows. some bugs are there, some crashes, but not more or less. just on mac I usually don't have to restart after crash and mostly get the chance to save.

Most problems I have are due to plugins and funnily the same plugins cause problems on mac and pc.. for example toxic biohazard or predator.           Most of my music for you to download at:
