Albino, z3ta, predator and vanguard all come with well-written manuals, that explain clearly what all the parameters do as well as extra tips for synthesis, it's a great place to start.
It doesn't matter which manual you read, once you learn one subtractive synth you've learn em all (except for small nuances, oddities and extra features). |

OK so u wanna tell me that by learning the synths manual and synth itself u can learn reverse engineering methods of creating sounds which are found in synth cookbook?
The answer is simple, absolutely not!

?
As I said, I just wanted an explanation of what each knob does. I can mess with them and hear how they affect the sound, I was just interested in getting a written description of each one.

Cause there are some techniques which use FFT-based real-time spectrum analyzer. It brings quicker results. Sure u can do it with only ears and synth but it takes time. If ur experienced u can do it by ear without the need of analyzer but for starters..

I wish there would be more to fm synthesis .Mostly its the same maybe a bit diffrent formulated what I have written so far on the net.But its so rare comparing to what you get about subtractive so each article is extra special to me.If someone got some cool links please share them here.
Im so fascinating by fm7 sometimes it lives like nothing else for me.Would be great to read bout some tricks or sth like this. And more bout different useful ratio settings.
Maybe someone knows a good book.
