Aloha, I have a question ...
Group channels are the way to send a signal elsewhere, right ? Well I have added couple of these and they work fine. Now I want to add more of them and somehow the new gruops are not possible to route to the old ones - only to FX channels or output.
What is the matter ? Is there a limited number of gruops that can be sent to other groups ? Did I mess some with the preferences ? Any other stupidity of mine? |

try to add lots of groups at the beginning of a project. I usually add 6 groups
-sidechain
-kick/bassline combo
-perc
-beats
-leads
-fx
now if you need more groups you usually are able to add them at a later time.
this seriously rised alot of question marks for me earlier too. coming from an modular enviroment it's hard to understand
that's why I use more and more energy xt as a sub host inside cubase... endless routing solutions and modularity.

TopDown it's a cubase limitation, to prevent signal loops (like routing a new channel to an old one and the old to the same channel). |

Well I tripple checked closed loops (there are none), is there a final number of groups before they get impotent ? Is any there a way to route it anyway (I dunno, outputs maybe ...) ? |

yeah colin I'm raving about that energy xt quite some time already. it really is awesome and hooks nicely into cubase and basically every host. there's a demo out at http://www.xt-hq.com and energy xt2 is around the corner to be released. jorgen (that's the guy who codes that thing also wants to release a linux version of ext)
there's a user forum at kvraudio.com with lots of useful skins, setups, additional plugins etc etc.
some nice features of ext:
-probability drumming
-preset morphing/randomizing (woot!)
-inbuilt arp (awesome)
-modular signal routing
-skinnable, customizable
-no fancy gui, just what you need to work
-midi mangling plugs you can't find in cubase
oh well I'm sure I'm missing the most important features as I consider myself an energy xt noob
