Thanks for the explanation. I use Cubase for everything but drums. Drums comes from Reason's Redrum, so i use the "Lenght" knob to cut off the end.

im working on a fullon/a little dark track right now, so when its finished u can tell me if i got it right or screwed it totally up eh?

A good tip for programming grooves is to lower the bpm of ur track while doing it.

So u set ur bpm to 100 or less and start programing a phat groove, when u finished it u set the bpm again to the original value.            Signature

eyb, this is a good way to do it! alternatively, you can "think" the beat slowly in your mind, and then program it i like to do it this way

Also, what about the kick? i have started to set the 1st kick's volume a little bit higher than the following 3. like this:

105...100...100...100 <-- is this a bad idea? i think it sounds good, what are your opinions?

I have never noticed that the kicks could have different volumes. Does anyone else use in this way?

I do. Changing volume also works nice if you use a limiter or a distortion on your drums: the louders notes get a stronger accent without getting louder.
