Just wondering if any of you are using things like groovebox/drumstation ex. in your setup's? I really much want a machinedrum but they are just so f..... expensive!:( But i do have a EMU MP-7 hooked up, just got it so it will take some time to get to know it, but it rocks.
Anyway, just wondering if any of you are using some of those things. Cheers!

I'm using Ultrabeat ( http://www.apple.com/logicstudio/instruments/#ultrabeat ) in every single tune. Does that count?

Pipe&slippers:
yeah well...no i mean hardware:) Im using fxpansion guru mostly but ive heard only good about ultrabeat:)

Phasmatix81:
argh that sucks! I have had some problems with sync between live and the mp-7. In cubase, no problem but it would be more fun i live. Dont know about ER-1, but maybe live has a problem with midi clock?
Feel you stress mate:(

Elad: Yeah the Rave-o-lution is freakin awesome! I borrowed a friends for some month a while back, and your right. it ROX! been trying too look 1 up here in denmark for sometime, when it finally came i didnt have the cash
But yeah hardware setup is fun and intuitiv in a way thats hard to copy on your pc/mac.

Total different than any other computer solution but rock solid.

The sound is quite authentic, silky highs and a phat bottom.
The mixing engine is very transparent, you can mix 2 sounds at the same velocity without influence each other or If you mix a low level volume sound as background it is being hearable all the time without the common masking.

Its all about sampling and resampling which is only few 'button press' away, to a playable instrument.

The Zoom function is the best i've ever used.
You can just zoom in 100% verticly and horizontal and than just click on the sample start or end value to jump to it. Very precise and fast.

Only flaw the MV has is handling big samples since it has no wordclock, which might lead to untightness over long time. But anyways, anything can be sliced to bring it on the point.

You'll find some "screen-shots" (yeh indeed screenshots with my cam hih:) at:

My thoughts about using a drumcomputer in the setup.I believe it would be much easier to create good rytms on a drummachine instead of making drums on a computer.I´ve used fruity loops for a while but i think it´s hard to get rytmic parts here and that the record and quantize option doesn´t give me any good results.Cubase gives me good better results here when it comes to quantizing

Ansolas: Wow great setup! Do midi use your outboard fx also? ( i guess u do) Must say the mv8000 looks impressive. Nice collection of hardware, the waldorf is that a Q? Great studio!

Conny: Yeah, think its easy to wip up some great percussive rythmes with the mp-7. when i someday get the x-lead expanssion it will be even better. Im in in the middel of moving right now but ill try an upload some samples. Good think is to make on the drummachine and then sample em.
ryed the Quasimidi raveolution like Elad talked about and that rocks.

I have an electribe the ER-1 wich i love but unfortunately i cant use in realtime, theres some sync issue wich i ahev no idea hpw to solve.First i thought it was and issue with live, recently i tried with cubase and theres the same problem. I use my 410 soundcard as midi interface, i was told that could be the problem.

At the beginning i did , but i must say that tweaking the effects while sampling is in 99% cases the faster solution.

it's a microQ, anyone got the yellow and like to trade it for the blue?

Using the emx1 with my MV8000 also leads to latency thats why i sample and chop it.
I love the emx's Synth for certain sounds and the usage of the drive and tubegain

I used to play live with MC505, but then I started using Battery 3 and sold the groovebox... too much weight to carry around and always the same sounds, is boring...
