duhh... you sound like you don't know a lot about how synths work.
a mc 505, for instance, has about 512 sampled waveforms wich is more than most virtual analogs or softsynths
in a VA or soft-crap-synth you have sampled waveforms for sines, triangles, saws, squars, etc... at most 8-10 of those waveforms
after that you have envelopes, lfos, and other modulation stuff
in a 309 rave-o-lution and others from korg (never tryed them) you have analog synths also... so shut your bullshit hole... |

First of all sy000321 is not groovebox but low level DAW. SO shut up yourself. We talk about grooveboxes.
Then money it cost you can buy two synths. 1200$ = Virus A + SH101, trust me or not they worth much more than this all-in-one shitbox.
Now if you buy synthesiser according to it's waveforms quantity so you need to leave this forum at all. |

well i didnt think this will grow to be an arguement but its gladly a good one...
so , few questions: does the groovebox can be controld (or some elemnts like adding effects or something...) by connecting it to my computer?
and i have to agree with some peoples here its actualy like a toy, every music lover dream toy .you cant realy realy produce serious psytrance but its no doubt that this machine can give very nice things.
i personaly , make my music with softwares , and dont know why i have manged to create so many loops and other short tracks so i thought why not get a groove box...

Don't buy it... at least not the mc505. It just can't compete with other stuff these days. Nice tool in 1997-1998 but now? Too much limitations, altough not the lack of tweaking a saw, sine, square cause it can do such things. It's other stuff you'll hate to miss. |

You said it advanced synthesizer, it has samples card and sequence abilities. Then it DAW
I really don't get why my sentence is not understandable by you, so i will rephrase it.
You said that it is advanced synthesizer basing on fact it has 256 or 512 waveforms, I say you are wrong, since quantity of waveforms are last thing the buyer should look for when gets a synthesizer. |

No Cane, that was not my point.
Someone said grooveboxes don't have their won oscilaltors and i was arguing that moderd digital synths don't have oscs but sampled waveforms in them and, at that point, the mc 505 beats them because it has more waveforms then them all.
>since quantity of waveforms are last thing the buyer should look for when gets a synthesizer.
yeah. most time will be using saws anyway... but i don't overlook flexibility at any point...
also, the 505 hasn't got a samples card. the mc 909 has... in the 505 everything but the presets are rom (as in most synths)
a groovebox is in fact a DAW... they were marketed as such, the gap between DAWs and beat machines.
as w/ most gear with it's age its presets will sound dated but you can teawk them to your heart's content.
also, every parameter has CCs so you can control it from you PC w/ an external sequencer. In fact the sequencer in most grooveboxes are what makes they shitty. the mc 505 even has hidden parameters wich can only be accessed by sysex... but i'm kind of a geek |
