Nick my friend i think you are playing with words here and thats not very wise if you ask me.We both know the truth concerning dark psy and its average bpm so trying to twist the facts wont lead us anywhere i guess.

I only hope that Rah's words will become true in the future and that people will start producing music on lower bpm and pay more attention on its production and ideas, then maybe we can open this topic again

I agree with this. i think that dark-psy feat most to a music technology.           Trance Sound As A Medium Towards Mystical Experience...

After listening to more of the suggested artists (Procs in particualr...and thanks for that nick, some tracks are quite alright) I must say that the slower dark stuff as you call it, is nothing new. Its been done to death before by the likes of X-Dream, The Delta, Spirallianz...etc. and people called it psy-trance back then (some tech trance) and its called psy-trance today.
The 150+ BPM stuff you call dark again, is actually hard dance/hard house, maybe with a bit of added swooshes. Yes I know the name does not sound as cool as dark trance, but it is what it is and in the UK its called hard dance/house. The people that don't actually know what hard dance/house is, search the web. In such parties, you see a lot of goth like dressed people with fake black dreads, white powder on their faces, (you see some goth nurses dressed in PVC too )...etc Check Lab 4 (I think that's what they are called), you might actually like them!

My opinion is that this dark trend is mainly a manifestation of people striving to be something different, mainly young people that haven't had much experience with what has happened in the trance scene already with past releases and styles, and not having much experience with what is happening in different genres of the dance scene. I think its mainly people that want to distance them selves from full-on so much, they want to call their favourite music something different...

Nick, you can't seriously think that Procs are so different than ze germans that they fall into a different genre? I mean come on mate, its blatantly obvious than to some extent, Procs are ripping off the german tech trance sound like there's no tomorrow. Not dissing Procs, since everything in dance music is about recycling anyway.
I wasn't reffering to you personaly, I was simply saying, why the need for a new name, why more segregation and pigeoholing on an already tiny music scene?

sorry , i disagree
maybe it's because we think of "german tech trance" in a different way
Would you say X-dream - We Created Our Own Happiness is tech trance??
i would perceive it as psy trance with tech sounds

i would say procs is still "psytrance" , just in another style, dark one.

Exactly. Its psy-trance, hence there is no need for segregation, which is one of the points I want to make. And that is simply for the slower stuff that ressembles psy-trance, not the 150+ hard dance tunes.           Me>You

what hard house r u talking about re 14-year old electronic e-tard!
yes it's true that this sound originates from the european scene of the late 90's but as u can c it has been involved into something fresh and new!and many ppl seem to like it.for me(along with the timecode/nexus media recs sound)it is one of the last genres which keeps psychedelia high in the 21 century.
I understand many things about your dislike in the genre(like your actual age or that u seem to like progressive-club music-).the one that I don't understand is since u dont have anything to say Why u open this topic.
in seven pages till now all u do is spamming.
the majority of the darkpsy fans is listening to it for at least 3 or 4 years and u just woke up and u want to make a critic.go back to your base re man!
listen there hard house.no hard rnb ....
say what exactly u want to ask and let us answer

well to be honest, my friend faith no more, hard house is a genre that it's extremely rare to listen to in Greece. (at least in thessaloniki)
Actually it is a genre even more twisted than the psy twisted one. I heared a promo cd last week from an english dj and i couldn't stand it even for a moment i.e. suria sounds like a sweet lalabay compared to it.
Definately dark psy rather than hard house if you know what i mean
