Propaganda?

Nice try to degrade my words by personally attacking me but its not me that opened this topic and its not only me that thinks that this 'dark psy' thing is nothing more than noise so your effort is not that good dear Rah.Except ofcourse if you claim that all these users like E-tard and Noizbox work for me and my label and we all together declared war on the 'dark psy' trend.....

You are talking about originality here?Sorry but Merzbow developed noise music long time before some guys from Russia came to the world with their 'dark psy' thing.Yes full on and goa are probably repeating themselves for some time now but this doesnt mean that 'dark psy' is the evolution of psy trance, actually i think that 'dark psy' is the pollution of psy trance.

I find all this attitude trying to present 'dark psy' as the underground evolution of psy trance as a big joke.I mean since when Deedrah,Etnica and Koxbox became commercial and Procs,Terminator and Scorbz became underground? How can a music that is known to very few people on this planet and sells no more than 2000 cds a title become commercial?

Commercial Psy Trance?Man you must be really joking, the most commercial act in psy trance ever had to be Astral Projection back in their old good days and even them difficulty sold more than 15000-20000 copies which for a serious music company is absolutely nothing.

Selling 500 copies and be known just in 1000 people all around the world who are one way or another connected to each other just like in this 'dark psy' scene doesnt mean that you are underground, thats probably non existent if you ask me.

Underground and being underground is a big concept followed by a certain ideology.Hackers in the early computer days were underground but even them were hundreds of thousands and even millions around the planet not just 1000 people trying to make music using a pc and passing it away through the internet to their friends.

Anyway me i have no problem at all with what kind of music each one enjoys at home but i find it offending for some people trying to invade into one scene simply because they dont belong anywhere else.I dont say that listening to psy trance is a privilege or something like that but trying to put in the same league artists like Koxbox with Derango (who by the way back in 1999 had much better production quality than any of these dark psy artists today) is a pure joke.

I mean even Tiesto and Paul Van Dyk are closer to psy trance than all these dark psy guys, you might not like it but sorry this is the truth.

You wanna listen to dark psy?Fine do it but dont try to promote this 'music' by reffering to it as the next psy trance.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

! hahah

"sorry but this is the truth" - so dogmatic and arrogant. This is just your opinion, nothing more.

Also, commercial is not about how much each one sells, it's about the attitude you have.

Let people decide what's psychedelic and what's not, stop acting like fascist. Each one can reffer to his music as he thinks. It's just another subgenre.
Not something completely new either..
There were dark goa/dark psy albums even in the past, such as Darshan - Awakening or UX - Ultimate Experience or Cydonia - In Fear Of A Red Planet or Ubar Tmar

Hey detox i wasn't tying to attack and that's why i wasn't quoting you. a few things i directed to you, but my comment was directed at the thread in general otherwise i would have PM you or something.

I think there is fundanmental mistake here, i'm not trying to put derango with Koxbox in the same league, i don't know if anybody else did, but i'm not defending them. It's apples an oranges to me, and i can appreciate the differences well I enjoy them both

i'm not talking about underground or not either. i reffer to twisted (notice i don't even use the word dark), it's about music that is not easily digestible, for mass consumption like straightforward morning full on. You might not consider it music, or even belonging as part of our scene. please let me know what council they should send their material to get officially approved by the psy 'scene'. i don't care if music is underground or not. i'm talking about popular type of trance and not so popular, regardless of how many albums this or that artist is selling, we can agree 'dark psy' at this time is not as popular. i don't give a damn about underground and the connotation of its word, as we can both agree it changes meanings.

Not two years ago i wasn't much of a fan for this dark trend and listened exclusively to what we call morning trance now. At one point i realized the 50 odd cds or so i had of that genre, sounded way too much alike and got bored of the same recycled ideas. So nowadays i preffer to listen to a very small selection from that market, and would much rather dwell in new projects that present different ideas (that might all sound like noise to you -please, do yourself a favour and hear the new scozbor). they might not have the best mastering and production skills and that refined touch, but much like punk i can appreciate the rawness of the sound and novel approaches of what THEY consider psychedelic trance. This way i have enriched my psychedelic trance experience a lot more since i can appreciate the entire spectrum. and just like i have my stash of progresive and full on cd's i have my stash of wierd twisted stuff and dark and love all my music equally. I'm not here to squall what type of genre is better... as i know this rather pointles and dumb debate.

Hm, but dont you think that most of these dark/twisted compilations lack creativity and originality nowadays as well?

yes man, just like there was one nirvana and ten thousand imitators... and so is in every genre. The thing, this scene is so small people are apauled that not everyone has their own idea of how psy should be.

and as for dark, full, ambient, techno and any other 4/4 based genre, the idea is that sometimes tracks with smilar patterns can be grouped very well cohesively. So, while i might not appreciate some tracks on their own, i personally think of them as part of a could-be puzzle. with each little piece building stories. and while it would be awsome to have every single track in a compilation be mindblowing, we all know different. and we pay for fillers too, but like i say they are not a complete loss for me, who knows when it might come in handy. Let's not forget in genral the music is made for the dance floor and at home. some work better and vice versa.           elementoftime.net

Another drugstore psychologist comes out of the closet! I don't like any israeli full on Rah. I also don't like GMS and the like. So which "popular" type of trance are you talking about Rah? Is there a popular type of trance? And if we want to be pedantic, commercial is not a certain stance of attitude, its a product that is available for sale, i.e all types of music, because all labels are a commercial business and all artists SELL their music for the mass market.

Unless weird trance artists are making their music available for free, all dark/weird psy artists are as commercial as any other.

I see your point
But from another perspective , commercial is also about whether an artist makes what he truly wants or just makes music without much love for it, just to make some $$$.. or when one throws "water in his wine" just to make his music have a greater appeal for the masses .. so, for example i believe IM have turned commercial. Maybe not , but that's what i think anyways..

What is this all about.
Dark psy style???
You try to compare the old psytrancers with the new total burned dark psytrancers that jumping from windows beacause they transformed to birds???
Come on get serious.
148-168 bpm with a super fast bass and sounds like zzzz...inggg.fffff.gzzzz. etc in disperse spots on the track can't make this music expendabled.
And i don't wont to report about the cd covers of all this dark psy albums.
Just look your face in the mirror and thing           OHM SHIVA

Drugstore psychologist? please, please look at your nickname (whether for sarcastic reasons or not) and stop judging people.

thanks for giving a lesson on what comercial means. Notice however i did not use that word. yes man there is a popular type of psy trance the one that derives with from EDM and has all the catchy lines and things you can whistle to just like you like, don't care if it's GMS, or israeli or chinese. some of us preffer our music to be a little more challenging.

as for the last quote i have no idea who you are quoting but that wasn't me either...

you asked a question and i answered it in the previous page. that is my opinion... that is how i see things, so just deal with it and stop this haughty attitude and pre-conception that people should be listening to the kind of psychedelic trance you like. I can dig all kinds, is a shame you can't but i'm not going to loose any sleep over it. now if you excuse me i have to go watch a chick flik...

it's a genre, or a sub-division like someone said in here... so u will accept it...
slowly... slowlyyy... slooooowlyyyyy

okay i think we must stop arguing.

e-tard u dt like it, but u opened this topic, and finally u had some feedback...

so 'greeks and darkpsy' or 'greeks and twisted psy'... no matter... it has some support... it has labels... it has djs , artists... and it's surely part of this music and this scene. the rest are TASTES. u can't do anything about this i'm truly sorry

i'm accepting other musics or genre, so let your mind open           http://darkelf.gr

dark_elf has a point here...

it is a sub-genre, wether u like it or not...
It excists, and it belongs under the umbrella of Trance...

We surely have some impact in greece and cyprus of this genre, and it shows from the the djs and artists we've got... Not to mention labels!!

Now, the conversation started above and kept going for a few pages now it is interesting...
But i guess guys u r getting OFF topic here...

We do not try to analyze the market of this genre neither to see if it fits to your personal interest or not...

If u check in the Trance section there are a lot of threads talking about this matter...
You can continue there cause your debate considers to be going off the road...

Thanx

If a music that uses a kick and bassline (cause thats the only similar thing between this 'dark twisted trance' and psy trance) is sub genre of psy trance then also gabba music has to be a sub genre of psy trance or vice versa.

I think that the phrase that exactly matches this kind of music is the one from Ghost In The Shell where it says 'It found a voice, now it needs a body'.

Unfortunately the voice is preety bad so i dont know which body is willing to host it

cool mike, i respect your opinion, personal preference and taste...
now u have to accept others personal opinion and preferences...

Your statement puts u to the position, of the non 'dark-psy' supporters... that’s fine man No prob.
U made your point pretty damn clear...
If u dislike so much this genre, then dont listening to it, and let other ppl do like they do and pretty much enjoy it...

This goes to all the ppl that spread their negative vibes around...

I'll go a bit off topic here so plz excuse me:

I speak in general;

From time to time, we see some ppl, and to be more specific, these ppl 'hate' 'dark-psy', spreading some dirty words about the ppl that are 'burned' and that they listen to this shitty music and all...
They say so many bad things about the listeners of night trance and yet not so many ppl, the so called, listeners of 'dark-psy' respond with this mean manner....

Y is that...??? Why the ppl that pretend to be the good ones, and the 'true lovers of psy, always are the ones that spread all the bad vibes and are the ones,
that keep complaining about what psy has turned to and about all the burned ppl and keep your music away and bla bla bla....

Listen what u like ppl, and i suggest you to open your eyes and ears and be cool to accept some things that maybe u have been so negative about them...
At least try, no harm...

Is all about personal tastes...
