SOmetimes you make your "best" super bass sound which you can use for all sorts of basslines and shit. You make another "superduperfoofer" trancey kick which is perfect too. You finish one track with those, are you gonnna use it again and again?

For myself, its kinda hard to use the same basses & kicks for different tracks. Mostly im trying to use new for each track i write. However i think im gonna stop doing it or go less with it.

Is it the same for you?

yes dude, i get bored as well but i always find something new to be subject of experimentation,

for ex. i wrote a lot of music with vb1 as the bass instrument cause now matter how many times i used it, i still could get new sounds out of it. until one day i got bored enough to find a replacement, and the same happened with drum samples and other stuff... or the new fm8 for example ;D

there is always new and more heavy software to install ;D
jeje i think you would first get bored of trance.

In listening to entire albums at a time, you'll find that this is done all the time on an inter-track basis..

I do on occasion

well,i think many of the artists have a "base" and on that base they create each track by changing some of the sounds each time.this is a part of "creating your own style/sound" i think.(or just lazyness )           Signature:

i have certain techniques, plugins, fx tricks etc that I use over and over again. I guess that make "my sound." But never the same exact sounds twice...that's no fun!

i have about five favourite kicks, three favourite vsti's for bass, so i switch between from time to time.
but i am feeling like am at the point when this "search for your perfect sound" seems never-ending because even if i am satisfied with my current bass+kick combination (a rare thing though, you know) at a particular moment i am not gonna just re-use it in the next tune. with this being said, i guess i can agree with the statement about "creating your own style/sound".
the task is to find that right sound. i think that usually can be solved by testing your tracks on dancefloor.
crowd's reaction gives you a very precise unbiased report on your work.

I just love making everything from scratch each time... kick drums, open hats and 808 snares are about the only thing that I don't tend to make each time but even then I don't tend to use individual kicks in more than about 3 tracks. I think it's a good way of making your music more varied and interesting.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

with myself (and im sure this is common) It all depends on the type of track you decide to make that time. the feeling can be totally ruined with the wrong kick n bass but other elements can still reveal the style of the artist I have a couple kicks and which one I use depends on which direction the feeling goes. If its gonna be geared more towards the dancefloor with a groovy bassline Iuse the punchier shorter kick and eq the bass with more high mid and less low end if its more droning I use the deeper longer kick and a more muffled bass. there is no rule for this Ive heard great albums with 8 tracks the same kick n bass and one with it changed up. Its all your choice. undoubtably if you use the exact same kick n bass every time your live set will flow together better but sound like a 2hour long song. If you are the experimenting type do it change it up from song to song. simple.
