hey guys, I've done a quick search and couldn't find much info on possible Granular FX
You know that sound you get when you timestrech something really long and it goes all granular. I would love a real time effect to manipluate inputs that way.
Anyone know of any? From what I've heard I think the eventide hardware FX unit can do stuff like this..

Try the 'Travelizer' ensemble in Reaktor, it's included with version 4 and up.

yea Travelizer is a really killer granular sample manipulation tool.
if you dont have reaktor you could try the old time granulab program.
Personally, i think for time stretching non real time is a bit better than real time, real time time stretching to me tends to be "off time". |

Granular Re-synthesis basically means that you split up an initial sound in to component 'grains' (or wavelets) these grains can then be compiled in another, edited way...
e.g. copied and placed next to eachother (for Massive time-stretch style sounds) or just generally twisted and manipulated.
you can also "freeze" a sound by replicating a certain (small) number of wavelets close to each other holding the sound in its place.
This is whats used for the vocals of the "KIlllaargh" (is that the right word) brutal remix of I Wish by Skazi... (as an example)
Also listen to aphex twin's and squarepusher's manipulations of drums and voices.
