I think that Gothic is more about darkness and sorrow (Dark side of life) and less then violent.
I think that we can combine any kond of filling with any kind of music , even violent with trance.

No way. Gothic music is completely different than the melodies in classical mushroom.
I guess that classical mushroom can't really be defined as belonging to one genre and that what makes it so special.

gothic is a period in arts. it's a form of architectal and building design. i don't think you can classify trance as gothic. techno, may be. ambient, for sure. not trance.

Listen to "Resurrection" by Chakra & Liquid Metal... the track is full of creepy and spooky samples...i like this one very much.

The Delta ,Tim Schuldt, some of Midimiliz and Spirallianz tracks, Juno Reactor, Sandman, Dark Soho, still the gothic feel is about the samples specially with choirs and dark lead pads, what creates this atmosphere i think. |

Menog is as Goth as psytrance can get. I think some Penta tracks (the one on Interdimensional Space Frequencies for example) are pure Goth. a little faster maybe..
On the other hand, some Haujobb tracks are almost trance.
Some older Morphem is very goth. Spirallianz, Xenomorph, MOS, Bus, and 12 Moons - some creeepy stuff out there. I'd say Trance is closer to Industrial than Goth music - Goth is a lot mellower, more melodic, while Industrial is faster, harder, and more aggressive. Some Damage tracks are almost industrial in character, as well as Dark Soho.
Btw, Gothic is a period in art history, but our usage comes from 19th century, not 12th century. Gothic literature - trying to bring the sense of mystery back into the evolved industrialized world. Ghosts, vampires, Frankenstein.. great stuff. |
