The fastest way to learn swimming is jumping directly to deep water.
Same same here…don't waste your time on non-professional programs.
Use cubase SX3. I think its free somehow , that's the rumor.
Also I suggest to you learning music, maybe piano for start, its somehow easier than guitar.
coz cubase SX3 doesn't have any magic buttons for creating music, you should have that knowledge.
good luck amico!
Peace

If your planning on making Goa...get synth1, i know of no other free synth that will serve this purpose..and if you use fruity, you get the 404...that's all you need [depending on your skill]...or you can get a synth that does more work for you..like z3ta.
the bass in my recent bass thread was made with 404 and synth1 only..and i think its rather good.
If you know what your doing, i would suggest getting simple synths, as they use less CPU..and its way more effecient. [that's not to say I know what i am doing though.. ]

all the programs mentioned are great, try out several of them and then choose the one you are comfortable with. there are some many ways to go to make music these days. None of the programs that are mentioned are toys by any means, once you have learned the UI, your imagination is your only limitation. good luck and do your research and ask alot of questions

Did someone managed to use Quadrafuzz in Live! 7 ? I managed to find version of this vst that I was able to use in Live! 6, but now I doesn't show up in the VST list anymore :'| |

alot of live pa artist in my area use ableton live when they play at parties. Ive never messed around with it so thats all I know
sound forge is a good tool for wave editing, recording and mastering. Very popular and easy to learn
cubase is great for sequencing vsti's, samples, loops. It has alot of features. Alot of of the professional studios in my area use it in thier tracks as the centerpoint of thier studio. very confusing at first...like most sequencers, but again once you learn the user interface, its arguably the best sequencer out there
to answer your questions they are all good for different purposes |

It depends on if you plan to play live shows or not. I hear Cubase is horrible for live performances due to lag, crashes, bugs w/e. Ableton seems to run a little more smoothly, and has a nice drag and drop feature for live tunes, but I find the midi sequencer a bit difficult to work with.
I use cubase.

take some time (weeks, months, years, a lifetime...) and listen to music you really like. analyze it with your ears and in soundforge. learn basical things about musical theory, sound synthesis, equalizing, fx's, arranging, mixing and mastering. try out different sequencers, decide which one you can handle best and learn as much you can about it. try to copy things from released track or do it even better but probably in a similar way. hang around here on isratrance forum, read all usefull threads and the linked tutorials as well. think about the things you've read (especially from certain users, you will know what i mean) and try it out. start a track, finish it or forget it and start a new one, desperate but never give up and try it again. listen to your stuff, analyze it and compare it to your favourite music. then u really can use your inspiration, break all the rules you've learned and make your own good quality music.
and so on, bla bla bla...
really no offens meant, but this is the way to go imho.

you want to make music or not...
no, just joking
actually i'm not sure if it's better to start with simple softwar and change later or to learn logic/cubase from beginning.
i did my first steps with reason and i can just recommend this programm for beginners. you can learn all basic things with it quite easy and start to make music from the first moment.
on the other hand: compare the reason synths (i admit i don't know this thor thing) to i.e. logic, linplug or refx synths. and if you want to start using hardware, real instruments or a mic
actually i have nothing to say but sometimes i thought about that and i really don't know whats the best way for newbies. |
