I use KRK's Rockit 5. They are active. I think that they really didn't compromise on the sound while trying to made an entry level monitors.

Dimitri is right, but at least i take for granted that you have some kind of amplification like a home stereo or something that you can connect the speakers to.
Otherwise the active version of the Monitor One's would cost not mush more. Around 330 euros, from the same shop. |

dont go for samsom
dont go for beringher truth
trust me
i tried both already.... samson i looked in the manual and it doesnt even say the frequency range of it (which is imo one of the most important features on a monitor and all respectable piece of equipment of this kind has this info)
beringher enchances the mid-highs... read "mastering tips" topic on this section and u will see a lot of explanation from yuli (BLT) about it and i totally agree with him.
i have a friend that has it and the eqs of his tracks are always lacking mid-high when u listen on other monitors.
go to the store and check the monitors out with your own tracks... and see the difference on them. (i dont mean for u to buy the one that sounds better, just try them out, if u have some experience on this matter u will see the difference clearly).
Check the sound on a mackie monitor and buy the one that has the most similar sound.
look for monitors that give u a FLAT response (meaning, no eq enchance on any freq)
now, about the monitors...
alesis mk -> tryed and is ok
roland dm-20 -> im sitting in front of them right now (though i dont own this pair) and i can say they are nice
Edirol MA-20D -> This is the new roland series. GOOD
If u look around u will find other options for sure.
But these are the ones i know (that are not expansive)
happy hunting |

I bet that's the reason you bought them .
joke
Edu
Trust me , stay without knowledge of Samson frequency response graph .
Monitors subject
If you ask me , better to stay without monitors then buy some of ppl advices here .
Collect money and buy Alesis Active (what Alex advice but active) it is the cheapest model of monitors from what i heard. |
