As mentioned, I've had accupuncture in the past with great results, whether that's due to a placebo effect or not is essentially irrelevant as it's the result that counts, not the method by which I got there It's definitely something I will keep in mind.

First thing with tinnitus is to really find out where it comes from. As far as I was told tinnitus that startet induced by loud noise is another thing compared to tinnitus that is psychologically induced.

I suffer from the last one and the noise in my ear really depends on my state of mind. That given, training Qi Gong, Yoga and mediation (and holidays) reduce my noise substantially. Whereas it becomes annoyingly loud in stress phases. So watch out for your health and stress status. Loud music does increase stress even if we like the sound of it. The body won´t be able to detect a good from a bad stress coming in by music and will see everything loud as noise..

So definitely ear plugs are a must, and as quiet as possible monitoring is a must as well!           http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/stereofeld-frequenzwechsel

one thing is for sure....having a mechanistic/newtonian approach to this has yielded few results. Yay for placebo btw.... It´s simply proof that the human brain is much more in control than we normally imagine it is           Mastering available here:

i experience the same kind of tinnitus as klippel.

i can hear resonances through the whole spectrum if im concentrating too much on the tinnitus.
i only hear it when i go to bed after a exhausting day. the trick is to not focus at the peaks... otherwise it really can be nerve-wracking. the right psycholgical handling of the tinnitus is important for me.           www.soundcloud.com/orgytime

@vonoom: how did that "closing" of your speaker cabinet affect your hearing and monitoring quality ?

@orgy: sorry to hear you face the same problem and you´re right about what you say. i see my tinnitus as internal "how do i really feel at the moment" health display. if its loud i know i am pushing it to hard... so on one hand you have to try to not concentrate on it but on the other hand this will only work if you always stay within your own limits in every day life.. its sort of an personal limiter on my pschological master bus that lights up as soon as the levels are too high ;-)           http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/stereofeld-frequenzwechsel

stuffing some socks in the back of the speakers has reduced the bass a fair bit, and so far, it seems that the speakers are a bit easier on my ears, although I now need to take the altered sound into account when mixing. It's working ok so far I think, but hard to tell until I play some of the newer stuff on some different systems.

My ears do seem to last a bit longer now, so in the end it's helped me out What I really need though is to treat my room properly...

As for my tinnitus, it was noice induced I'm sure. I've been to one ear doctor already but he was a bit of an ass so I'm gona make an appointment with another one just to get my hearing checked as well and all that. Not much to do except protect what's left and hope they hurry up with that cure           www.soundcloud.com/vonoom | www.vonoom.bandcamp.com | www.facebook.com/vonoom | www.flikflakfamily.com

@klippel

dont worry too much about it. imo tinnitus is something most people know because they have it from time to time. its nothing special. just make sure to wear earprotection and dont mix at very loud levels.

its like "the devils circle" with every psychological complaint:
you have it, because of your "high stress lvl", but you cant relax because you have it.

the only break out (for me) is to dont worry too much about it and focus on more important things.
because life is to short!
or you can try to figure out every damn frequence you hear and wallow in self-pity, and maybe freak out.

yeah well i can live with it quite nicely-- i am not worrying too much about it. i see it as a feature now more than a bug =)

tells me to calm down sometimes which is good to realise in a busy everyday life.           http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/stereofeld-frequenzwechsel
