Bottlehead Crack is supposed to be very good, it's cheap but you'll have to build it yourself. Don't think you'll find a better tube headphone amp at a cheaper price.

There won't be any more suggestions, because the words tube, headphone amp, and not expensive do not belong together.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

Like i wrote in the recent headphones thread, Lake People (and their hifi-brach Violectric) have really nice products. Will be a good step up from interface hp-amps.

If you can afford it, something like the SPL Phonitor (or Phonitor mini). It also takes care of the biggest problem with headphones: the sound doesn't come from the front like with speakers. Utilizing methods like cross-feed etc the Phonitor sounds quite realistic in that terms.

But still you can use software for this like TB Isone or Redline Monitor (or the more expensive ones).

Cool, good to know what you went with.

I use a configurable Meier crossfeed component plugin when listening on HD600s in Foobar, works really well to give you a more natural sound.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma
