The reFX Slayer2 is the only one I know, but I'm sure there are some other great ones.

Nothing is like the real thing..
But if you want I can play some riffs for you and send it clean, so you just need to put it through an amp (or ampliture, guitar rig, etc).

True, nothing like the real deal holyfield!!! Amen!!
real thing or if you get lucky slayer 2 depends on what you want to do. in my track coolio 09 I have a acoustic guitar playing in the intro and outro that i programmed with slayer 2... isn't as good as a real recorded acoustic but it sure sounds close enough for me! check it out if you want
if your thinking about a S.U.N. Project feel then defiantly a real guitar! its more or less about the human touch of the guitar and pattern. than the direct sound itself i find in my personal opinion.
what i noticed during lots of trial and error is that if you are able to piano you can program almost any instrument with midi keyboard. however to get the most realistic results you have to understand the manner of playing the real thing, and the guitar is no exception. that plus quite heavy midi editing will help you to come pretty close to the real guitar, but for me personally it is much easier to call my friend guitarist, tell him the tempo and the key and in some time receive ready guitar files via skype

acoustic guitars:
real guitar
vir2 acoustic guitar hd
also there is this russian guy Ilya Efremov who did pretty awesome job with his plugs

shreddage is very good in combination with guitar rig. other than that the east west ministry of rock seems pretty professional but expensive as hell. havent tried it

NI Guitar Rig... I like to use it every now and then and it has awesome distortion plugins...
+1
I have used it for years and had very good results!
Try using a good FM synth like FM8 and send it trough guitar rig, you will get similar sounds to guitar but better for psy, after all you dont want to have the usual and wered out basic guitar chord sound that everybody is sick of listening to do you?

Here are some links for free guitar VST's my recommendation is to install and use one at a time and read the manual or info to get best results of what guitar sounds you can achieve from them also route midi channel with preferred vst to an audio channel and record to audio then process :
Slayer is good turn down release and Decay on synth seems to help on getting good sound.
Guitar Rig is good for FX and Slayer FX also good as well as usual distortion plugins (check forum)
Tho you can get a second hand guitar cheap and guitar pedals are also a lot cheaper than they used to be and wide range.
And maybe you can learn some simple stuff - record and process in your DAW to make sound nice - single notes and simple chords can be polished to sound good.
I was always told to multi-track guitars with many takes so the difference in sound from each track recorded together sounds better though this was for band music if you look at a multi-track of a famous rock or other music song you can see how others have worked.
I found by using the same single track of guitar and adding fx, delay, reverb to give the difference in sound seemed to work quite well.
heres a couple of tracks tho not what I call propa psytrance and unmastered first track guitar played in using electric acoustic:
Second track heavy use of Revitar even the vocal sounding "oldboy" made with revitar:
But u defs right use a synth and distort can get some ace stuff crunchy and glitchy albino has some good scope.
Does anyone know the hardware used for this guitar kicks in @ 1:23 classic 80's sounding synth guitar Juno maybe?:
Johann Bley - timerocker
My favourite classic tho is (real electric me thinks):
