I'm having some financial issues.
So I thought about selling my Genelecs and to get a pair of KRK RP8's instead.
Is this much of a step backwards or will this still be reasonable?
Btw,I have to mention I'm not a very professional producer at all. |

do you think its worth the money? i mean, the money you get for your USED monitors would just about cover expences of the NEW ones wouldnt' it ? From a money perspective i would look for other things to sell

you probably know your genelecs very well, and do you want to spend time becoming familiar with a new set?

I have to agree with Alex on this one. I personally wouldn't sell my speakers. I want a second pair to run alongside mine. Then perhaps in the future I would change a pair but would still have something familiar to work with.
If its going to put food on your plate then maybe you have no choice but sounds really un economical to me.

Well, point is I got my Genelecs second hand very cheap already.
And I can probably sell 'm for more.
I hope to have something like 500 Euros left over after getting the KRK's, which Is quite reachable I think.
Besides I have not been into any real music production at all, and I wouldn't even notice that mouch difference I'm affraid.
That's how I figured I could maybe get the KRK's instead. |

Actually if you dont use Genelecs as a pro musician/sound engineer, then KRK RP8 is faaar from the worst option. Good monitors.

Exactly my thought!
One more thing when i was scouting for monitors i did a blind test and i thought that the KRKs had a smoother treble response than the genelec. i find genelecs treble to sharp for my ears.
