Have you seen the digital sales at all in psy trance?

Blame the content, not the medium bro.
Have you checked how many paid downloads Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber have?
You're welcome

|
Have you checked the name of the forum?
You are welcome

All I'm saying is that your notion that artists can't get money from purchased is incorrect. I'll tell you more, the artists get the bigger cut than before. The fact that psy-trance artists don't make that much money from it is because a: the music is not that good anymore b: the fans are not willing to pay for it any more.
15 years ago you had less names that sold more and frankly, did better music and today every Joe Shmoe can string a few beats with a bassline and call himself an artist.
A week ago I bought 2 Tipper albums from Beatport. His music is underground enough, the quality in Beatport is good enough for me and instead of waiting a full week before the mail man arrives I get it 2 albums in under 30 minutes. So where's the problem? You can always back up all your music with DVDs or another HD. That's what I do anyway. I have 2 HDs with all my music. If my house will burn it will destroy my CDs as well.

Indeed, the only reason I ever download stuff illegally is not the money (I spend 100-200 Euros a month on music), but instant gratification. If for example an album is released on CD but not on Beatport, i will go to Soulseek to find it RIGHT NOW. This is 2011, and I wont wait in the mail for something that is already released and avaible to me. Get with the program and put it online for me to purchase, because if not i`ll find it anyways. Consumers these days are used to instant gratification, so if you wanna make money of them give them the opportunity to instantly gratify themselves in a way that you can profit from it. And I`m 31 years old already, if I look at the way my little sisters (22) consumes music and media in general, instant gratification is an even bigger issue.
About CD`s: They are worthless piles of crap anyways that scratch too easily and contain the same thing a digital file does. And I don`t give a fuck about the artwork, if I wanted to see art I`d go to a fucking gallery. Now, Vynil was a completely different thing, I still have a collection of way over 1000 Vynils sitting in my living room, because Vynil is not the same thing as the digital file, it has intrinsic value, it sounds different (IMHO better) than the CD, you can DJ with it better, and it is just pretty!

Most digital downloads have artwork added too so the old whine about "there's no artwork" does no hold water! www.beatagency.dk |

Funny how some who support CD's and do not want to embrace the future get a bit aggressive once people think differently.

I dont mean the artwork, but the look of the actual black Vynil with the grooves on it, and how as a DJ you can exactly read the best cue spots from looking at the grooves. Meaning you can spin a track on Vynil that you don`t know much better than from a CD, because you can actually see when the beat goes away, when it drops back in, you won`t get any unfortunate surprises...
And WOW, sales of 500 copies...they must be millionaires! Thats a serious business case you are presenting here, hahaha, like one of those "hidden champions" they always talk about in all the business magazines

Learn to read dude, where I wrote I wanna be as famous as lady gaga?
And let me tell you something: cd's were also invented by corporations and selled by record companies, people used to consume them a lot if you dont remember it.
And record labels ripping artist off their rights on their music was also standard practice by 1950.
The world move forward, digital is here to stay, no need for physical copies.
I find the attachment to physical media quite obsesive.
My precious!!! cd'sssssss!
