Going Digital .... What's wrong ?

Slumping CD sales, career endings, bad deals, unprofessionalism etc etc.. all plaguing this genre.
Upon speaking to couple of labels, artists and other industry related people, it has come to the notice that most of the artists in the trance scene, are still stuck up with releasing on CD's only! Especially, the ones in the 'dark-psy' genre (i mean the more popular ones) consider it most of the times degrading to release digitally. They are very notorious for this!! Why are these people so stuck up??
All other genres, are mostly benefitting from releasing digitally. Even similarly underground genres like Dubstep or acid minimal or DnB etc etc ... everybody releases digitally. Which also gives the oppurtunity to the artists to make a few bucks, provided that the track is good. This alternatively improves quality control, which means that to have some sales goin, the track must be really good.
Lets admit it, there is 100% times more exposure if your music appears on sites like Beatport or Itunes, because it has a wide range of audience, than just releasing some one god damn track on one CD the whole year.
One can understand if its a solo album, coz its a personal thing and most of em wld like to have a physical copy of it. But compilations??? Just a bunch of tracks... !!!
Why are these artists and labels so reluctant to go digital??? Its so baffling!!
Your thoughts people ??
P.S : dont flame me for the username... its reviews for all types of releases, not just CD

CD is digital so you are not "going digital" by switching from CDs to selling mp3/wav |

Releasing only digital is lame...
Nobody cares what is released on digital distribution, and nobody follows, and there is no quality control , i can put now a 6 min kick track, and that track will appear on all the shops....
Other genres like for example full on release the same names over and over again, i didn't see any new name the last 4 years.
On the other side "Darkpsy" is all about new artists and ideas, and the genre is pretty new, so we don't have this 10000 fans like for example electro sun, or wizzy noise.
Digital distribution works only for CD releases, some of the shops even require the release to be an official cd on psyshop or something.
Have you seen the digital sales at all in psy trance?

i support CDs .
one day your hard drive will die and then u will think ohh.. why i didnt bought that Cd 
one day your son will ask you: dady who masterised that CD i like so much?
and u will answer: oh my son i dont know because the release was made "digitaly" and there is no info about nothing cause also the page where i downloaded is dead.
dady why my friend has a lot of cd boxes with very cool draws and colorfull pictures ? why i dont have this i want also! is so beautifull and i can feel so good the message that the artist wanted to give so clear!
my son is because now all is "digital" .. your uncle nico has no job cause no one requires him to do anymore cd artworks.. is so lame my son..

well my son, digital is now the new way to get ur music but there are things that ppl still dont know cause they just go like a cattle to do what the sistem tells them to do without thinking.. like for examples the rights of itunes , that everytime your tunes are there u loose all the priviledges and copyrights, your songs are not anymore yours
also this sistem made for the mases is just one more way to sell more and more so there are no real followers no colectors or real students of the field.
music has become so efimeral, you just go buy it online and then a couple of months later after you have heard the same song like 500 times you get bored forget about it and buy another . this is called consumism my son 
now go and play with you iphone and put some gagas tunes.
but dady .. gagas music has nothing to do with psychedelic trance music at all..
oh my son u have still a lot to learn about musical hipocresy.

to be honest my son.. maybe u see me as the most psytrance freak, but the real truth is that i hate this music of the devil, i hate the trancers, the dancers the neohippies and all this new wave of loooooosers.

One day your son will ask: why people wasted so much plastic on disposable stuff? why people didnt save resources when the mediums were avaible and keep consuming and polluting?
Dad, why you are so stuck in the past consuming paper and plastic, fulling the earth with garbage?
Waste is a far more important concern than digital music. Or at least for your sons its gonna be.

All I'm saying is that your notion that artists can't get money from purchased is incorrect. I'll tell you more, the artists get the bigger cut than before. The fact that psy-trance artists don't make that much money from it is because a: the music is not that good anymore b: the fans are not willing to pay for it any more.
15 years ago you had less names that sold more and frankly, did better music and today every Joe Shmoe can string a few beats with a bassline and call himself an artist.
A week ago I bought 2 Tipper albums from Beatport. His music is underground enough, the quality in Beatport is good enough for me and instead of waiting a full week before the mail man arrives I get it 2 albums in under 30 minutes. So where's the problem? You can always back up all your music with DVDs or another HD. That's what I do anyway. I have 2 HDs with all my music. If my house will burn it will destroy my CDs as well. Another huge plus is that today I have an access to whole my collection from anywhere in the world with a web access with my cell phone. If that doesn't worth it all I don't know what is.

There is nothing like holding the physical cd in yer hands... You can get lost whithin the art... i support cd`s!!! Its a lot warmer to have the cd in yer hands rather than yer Hard Drive, i dunno, would never go only digital....
