Where are you hiding? Where can GOA be found anywhere near the LA area? There are GOA DJs found in San Francisco, are there any here? I'm honestly surprised I haven't found it at a party especially the gatherings.

No, it will be in fact Goa, as in "old school" classic pre-2000 era Goa trance, not the dark psy that is often played here. This is the fourth year this event has happened (on the weekend closest to June 4 (6/04)) and is always a great time. This year it will be June 5-7 in the Oregon outdoors near Portland. I'll post more info when it's available. |

Goa Party has been organized by someone named Adam aka the Goa Constrictor. There have been different themes over the years. The first year, there were 12 dj's and each dj represented a particular artist who was a psytrance pioneer (Hallucinogen, Koxbox, X-Dream, etc.) and each dj played a set exclusively of that artist. The second year was a countdown where each dj represented a year: the first dj played tracks (that particular dj's favorite tracks) from 2007 (the current year), the next dj played tracks from 2006, etc. and it counted down to the final dj playing tracks from 1993 or 1994. Last year was a little more free-form and some sets were scheduled and some timeslots were open decks. Each dj created their own theme for their set, but the goal was to represent their favorite Goa tracks (some modern trance was played). Also, Process was a special guest and played an amazing several-hour set the second night! There is a theme this year as well, but I'm not sure if details are being released yet. I'll make sure info gets posted once it's available, but the dates are June 5 - 7 in the Oregon outdoors. |

I'm collecting both old and new school goa and djing like a madman at home, hopefully you'll see me play out in SF or maybe even LA sometime soon!
