I know all there is mate.... I have done a lot of research about it .... re-read what I said in my posts... I just did not give you any long versions of the different meanings. Takes too long and is quite boring since I have been asked the same question about the meaning of Elysium over and over again for years now

Ok one more time just for you mate
Elysium ih-LIH-zee-uhm; ih-LIH-zhee-uhm; , noun:
1. A dwelling place assigned to happy souls after death; the seat of future happiness; Paradise.
2. Hence, any place or condition of ideal bliss or complete happiness.
Elysium comes from Latin Elysium, from Greek Elysion, short for Elysion pedion, "Elysian fields," the ancient Greek heaven. The name of the famous avenue in Paris, the Champs-Élysées, means "Elysian Fields." |

From any interchange of thoughts be sure that i take positive things...
But next time, try to think a bit more before u gonna reply to somebody u don't know in not a polite way (anyway was nice that u edit your past post 3-1-04 at 20:52 -looks better now- but unfortunately at that time I was on-line!)
Could be nice also, if u can find an interpreter and maybe u get something as well about the little history i tell u about Greek's mysteriosus religious habits!
Have a nice day "Elysium"...
C.T.H.R.
PS: In the end i get that you name yourself either because u wont to transport the souls of your listeners (after kiling them) to a happy paradise stage of mind with your project or because a stupid avenue in France.
FOR SURE IS NOT FOR THE ELEUSINIAN MYSTERIES! (my mistake to think the opposite)
PS2: What means "ranting"..? (I'm an Indian from Argentina u know, our mother language is Castellano -for mama Queen Isabel de Castilla, who put the money for Colombo's trips who tought was arriving to India...)
PS3: Aaaaah... u think I forgot Goa? (Topic)
Goa is a beautiful natural paradise in the Indian subcontinent by the Arabian sea... (can u see the connection..?)

What I have been trying to explain to you from the beginning is that I know Greek Mythology very well and all there is to know about Elysium versus Greek Mythology. That's where you keep going wrong..
You seem to want to teach me something I already know. I dont say that you're wrong in your interpretation of the word Elysium (eventhough there are more interpretations than yours) but why do you keep telling me that I need to learn about Greek mythology when I have told you over and over again that i already know it?
I have no intention to kill the people that listent to my music in order to get to heaven. You got to stop over-analyse the word Elysium.. I use the word because I like the meaning of it and because it sound nice.... Does it have to be of any deeper meaning for me to use the word? I dont think so!
So again. I used the word Elysium because I liked the Latin and indeed Greek mythology about the happy place after dead = Heaven... I could just as easily have chosen to use "Valhalla" but somehow I think Elysium sound better!
I am glad to see that you have undestood some of what I have tried to make you understand and I dont see any reason in continue posting about my band name... Hopefully you now understand why I use the name Elysium
I dont think I have been un-polite to you at all. I tried to make you understand but you kept refusing to understand.. I think i have been quite patient
ranting = someone that go on and on with no direction in mind |

Because u miss the apartment u used to have in Paris..?
The little yellow face with one eye closed that u use all the time MEANS irony..? (just to "rant" something...)
Tell me, u don't sleep at night "Valhalla Project"..?

you really think the last 10 posts were so contributing to the thread topic ? come on guys... I know you are all full of words to say to each other - I would guess one of the sides would take a stop - or at least get it to the private msging.
anyway...
to the Goa thread -
just want to say that goa will never be dead in my brain. The sound is maybe old - but this is the true idea, energies came from different places in one track - and not particulary from a 'killer' bassline or somethnig.
I'm glad that no one can take this past away from me. And I can only try and bring the true energy to the new sound.

Hey Trip! Ma kore..?
Len me ask u something..?
What u understand is the meaning of this thread..?(topic Goa?)
What MEANS "Goa Trance" for u..?
It's only about an undersubgenre (Goa) of a subgenre (Psychedelic) of a style of techno music socalled "TRANCE"..?
Or... maybe all the way round..?
What about the FEELINGS of the emotioned fella' (a.k.a. The Green Channel) dancing under the rain with a little walkman at the train station..?
What came first the egg or the chicken..?
As we know, the partys starts as a gathering of ppl who were running out of the system/matrix to celebrate life in love, dancing in a natural paradise; short after, in sinergia with this feeling, European musicians with the assistance of a developing technologie and the use of psicoactive or soulaltering substances (basically LSD_25) start to create the ambientation for a proper blasting experience!
Then the melodias in harmonia... and the history go on & on untill arrive to our original danish postman, "dancing under the rain" -btw us, I liked the Mc Gregor version at Kubrick's Clockwork Orange- , at an anonimous anden, with closed eyes and the assistance of that musica created to MEAN something, get complitelly transported or tranceported to that remembered partys were we felt in the top of our power and we want to fell it again... or close by at least!
Don't forget about the meanings guys; in the names, tracks, artworks and treaths, sometimes is good to take a time to think why the fuck we go to listen to this "crazy" music in an appropiate place -If it's possibly very loud! at Pachamama's paradise or Valhalla, as u prefer...
Like a wise italian pilot used to say: "Blast like Crazy..." is a good advice for the ones who wants to understand trance, if that is possible!

The following day I thought of why weren’t their any parties were they played Goa, or even just a couple of tunes? In my opinion this is an amazingly energy filled genre, and I would go mad if rain by CS was played or Dancing galaxy at party!
Am I the only one?????

Don't think so dude!
...cause that, Miko is remixing California Sunshine's "Rain" right now and maybe u have the chance to "get mad" at party time again.
All my bests...

OK, Goa...
Goa, for someone who's never been there is like Zion for Rastafari, its more a state of mind than an actual place.
Since the physical place basically doesn't exist anymore for our culture (its still there, beautiful as ever, but the spirit and virginity is long gone, I believe), GOA as a state of mind has also kinda passed away.
I go to parties, and all I see is ppl who come to get their asses kicked by this or that DJ/Artist, take speed or coke (what the hell does these drugs have with spirituality??), drink alchohol and party until either the organizer or the police says it over.
BUT, I do remember the times where no one cared who the DJ was (usualy friends), what technique he used (usualy MD/DAT, so no technique), ppl would smile at each other in the morning, hug and share a chillum without asking, close their eyes, smile, cry and completely loose themselves in the spiritual ritual called a forest party - this is, for me, GOA. and unfortunately (and naturaly), it is no more.
I dont come to say that there are no more "beautiful ppl with flowers in their hair", but this generation has gone older, has seen all the parties, taken all the drugs, has grown families and simply grown tired of this -intensive- way of life. The scene today is composed of mostly 'the generation who did not know Moses', ppl for whom the name Slinky Wizard, Man Made Man, and even on extreme cases Halucinogen (yes, I came across hard cases like this...) means nothing.
One of the main reasons for me to kinda leave Progressive Trance and go back looking for the new Full on sound was the emptyness I felt while playing progressive: ppl would nod their heads, get a serious look on their faces and tell me I play very good and complicated music, but where were the smiles, the hands in the air waving in exultion, the screams of happyness, the feeling of a everybody TOGETHER rising and exploding to the tune?
This was missed in progressive trance which, as much as I like it, kinda killed the EMOTION in GOA.
Also the drugs changed - Acid and mushrooms slowly got replaced with coke, speeds and extasy, which are not psychodelic (imo). Trance as a trip, a journey of the mind was replaced to be a simple, shallow fun.
In searching for new horisons we almost forgot the way of life which was developped in the 60's and attempted in GOA of the 90's - simplicity, happyness, peace, love and understanding. Seeing others as fair and equal, gathering together in trance parties not to get smashed, but to celebrate life, peace and joy.
Boom Shankar, maybe for the last time,
A

I don’t entirely agree with you Helen. Your illustration of the whole Goa conception is right on the mark. But in my opinion Goa has always been an idea. Picture this scenario; go approx. 2000 years back, and ask a roman legionary what he is fighting for, and he’ll answer; “the greatness of Rome”, even though he has never laid foot in Rome. It’s common for human nature to “identify” with something, in this case Goa.
Now I entirely agree with you on the subject of the drugs. But in my opinion it’s not important which drugs people are on, or not on, but rather what kind of drugs attract what kind of people. You see the difference?
Last Saturday I was at party in Copenhagen (Lish&Antix), a pleasant place with a bit above ordinary deco. Now the problem as I saw with this party was not people on coke, but rather persons taking the coke, which I would characterize as being criminal/wannabes. People who wouldn’t dare to show a smile, they just budge around with their exaggerated Steroid filled bodies looking plain and simply mean. But then again one of the persons I saw dancing longest with the best energies was probably on coke (toilet every 45 min, no seeming facial problems, if you understand what I mean ). It’s not the drugs that make the person (unless it’s LSD, which makes pretty much everyone pretty crazy ), the person already probably had serious misunderstanding of what is meant by proper behaviour at parties, or in general.
It’s just kills to see these few people destroying the atmosphere a bit, for the rest of us. Because a lot of people do have the right personality and energies needed to make a party with the right kind of vibe. Be the change you want to see; I for example always pass my joints to people I don’t know, at parties because it creates trust and improves the mood of the people around me. Furthermore next time the same person is smoking a joint maybe he’ll do the same. And YES I honestly believe that this works.
Finally, progressive can with out a doubt bring out a huge smile on my face, as full on can as well. In the morning time especially prefer progressive, with those lovely melodies. At night time when the craziness is needed, I prefer full on. There is nothing wrong with diversity.
Cheers mates and take it easy
Daniel

Why didnt u come to say hello? we were there in Metro (Lish & me), and indeed, this was an example of how good progressive music can be - groovy, yet emotional.
The issue of drugs is more complicated, its like the egg and the chicken - who came first question. You might say these (the drugs and the taker's character) are interwind - a positive and free spirit will be more inclined to experience mind-freeing drugs, while a more agressive and egoistic nature would lay towards Ego-driving drugs (Speed and Coke).
Next time I hope to meet you in person, I had really good time in C.hagen, both as a guest and a DJ (aside from the Ephedrine doctor who simply wouldn't let me go...)
cheers,
T
