the green channel, I guess I have to agree with you in many ways.. listening to the seriousness of the musical demonstrations in the Goa of 93-97.. there are so many artists that have compilations that are each an amazing trip. more recently (relatively speaking), by Ra, Bodh Gaya, and Imperial Projekt. ironically, trips as vivid and pure are ambient releases on labels like FAX. . Aliens in My Suitcase, Lustmord, Vidna Obmana, that stuff is up there too.
however, I find goa exceeds everything in a spiritual nature where I don't normally find myself in contact with enough.. I do have a good time listening to it semi frequently though. Since I've yet to find a party with just that, I'm starting to queu up 20hrs or so of just Goa on a Sunday and meditate on that. It's a healthy way to renew the spirit, I just wish it were more present in today's trance.
I mean, maybe I'm missing a movement somewhere, but I don't think that there's enough energy to go back to it yet.. or is there? With the perception that there's more fighting going on in the world today, is with it also changing trance? Sometimes I wonder. Just a little.

It's not about going back, it's about simply wanting to hear, goa because it's wonderful music. To be honest not to open a can of worms or anything but I think that the type of drugs which people have used the last decade have changed the direction of certain styles, in trance, a bid sad actually. Trance today has its good sides and its bad sides.

Goa Is the best !!!
I glad to read those things and to know that we are not alone..
with all the respect to the "new" full on trance there is no thing that even get close to the old classic goa sounds!!!

technology and drugs changed psytrance. all the digital tools available mean we can now have very clean music that is closer to other modern trance, and E changed the way people listen and dance. it's just progress, and another example of how technology changes the world.
i still like the mid-90s originals, but i don't feel the need for people to create new music in that style. it just sounds a bit dated, and too over-the-top sometimes.
the thing that does concern me is that modern psytrance can easily become the next semi-mainstream genre. i have met many people that converted to "psytrance" after i gave them some albums, esp the progressive stuff. but they don't realize that this isn't really psychedelic. so people will start waffling about how they're going to a killer psytrance party, when it's really just the progressive sound.
that brings up another big problem... over here in NYC, very few parties have more than one style of music. like one group always plays/books prgressive, another always israeli full-on, and so on... we need parties that play prog-->full-on-->classic goa-->morning stuff-->psy-ambient all in one night. imagine how fucking great that would be. but that's not how it works here. so people go to the parties and think that one sound is the whole scene... |

I've been DJing for a few years now, and I only play old-school stuff. Been getting gigs all over Sweden recently which is pretty nice. Judging from the response I get, people are loving it. A lot of todays party-goers weren't around in 95 so the music is new to them, and in lots of way goa was more "serious" than the current sound, which is more "happy-party-smiley". Goa trance is much more of an inner journey, at least for me.
Very little of the modern sound appeals to me, so I spend my money trying to build the ultimate goa collection instead |

Concentrix and Future Prophecy are two acts that have a goa vibe to their music, MWNN's album released earlier this year while not the raw-energetic type of goa is still very much with that style.

For me goa is not dead and it will never be.
it is the sparkles of our culture's beginning and its called TRANCE !, Its a shame that a some people disrespects it, we should remember our keystone - GOA !.
We should remember where we came from, Or ... where our favourite music came from.
When i hear an ethnic melody playing at the radio i imagine egypt and desert stories.
When i listen to an ambient track with sounds of waterfalls and stuff i imagine places like ever-green forests.
-When i will hear the old Goa tunes i will imagine and remember where i came from
and i will remember the old parties and joy !
and ill know that the trance we have today [the good or the bad] came from our mother of trance - GOA !

Yeah... maybe one Goa DJ at sunrise, or a separate area playing Goa - that would be nice. But all Goa for the whole length of the party is too much, imo. I like to break out an oldie once in a while, combining them with stuff like Fractal Glider or Dimension 5, which sound very old school still. But there is so much excellent psychedelic new music out there these days that I can't see going to a strictly Goa party. |

well i think that serious ppl (like isratrance crew) should take initiatorion and start plan a goatrance party.. for the dudes that missed that old times..(like mua) and for the dudes that were there and wants it back..
BUT.. it should be very very underground casue.. i think that in this generation the trance ppl dosent look for old vibes party.. they look for place where they can get read of their stoned, trippy to death brains... so they will be dissapointed from a spiritualic music and will want the full-on bang the head trance..
so if some1 hear thinking on getting this project on to the air of the world(in israel!!) do it undergroung and dont forget to contact me when its coming (i'm ready to help if its needed! )
ps : mabye finnely we'll meet all the dudes and dude'ts from this forum Follow u'r Spirit without hesitation. |
