Whoa Deus....Couldn't have been said better...

What i have come to understand after all these years of listening to psychedelic trance, is that this music is Timeless and Classic...Not all tracks and artists of that time though, but intelligent musicians like Quirk and Sandman that you mentioned, produced very classy stuff, that can be easily listened to by people that are not into that music....And let's not forget the Psy Harmonics crew, Ubar Tmar, Chakra (Ressurection/Search for God, serious pagan stuff)Process, Deflo etc.

I haven't enjoyed music since the scene became so cold and digital and crowded with kids that overdo it with effects just because they cannot produce music, as Deus said...

Anyway, as i have posted before, this music works in a mountain environment or an outdoor party, without sounding old or anything, cause it's not faceless techno or "Full On" or anything else that is produced without soul....(Tested in a non Psy crowd, everyone going frenzy....)

I can't resist posting to topics that have anything to do with "that old music"....
Finally, a list with things i have enjoyed from the time that music became cold:

Process - Superior Technology (the Autechre of Psy Trance)
Nerva System - 13'th Amp Fusion
All Psy Harmonics releases
Ubar Tmar - Macrometasomacosmos
All Feedback Releases
Mac Mavis
Juno Reactor (of course)
Domino
Comma Records
This Morn' Omina
Male Or Female
The last Front 242 CD

and some more stuff i can't remember now....

PEACE........

one last thing...I 've been really thoughtful about this....Anyone who wants to attend an "old school" pagan , really psychedelic party scheduled for September, PM me.....I'm sure you're not too many out there.....

I think many people today are burned so much with the drugs and I don't think that their head could accept all these tunes that you mention. It would be a dissaster for them!hehheh! So I think the only realy psychedelic stuff comes from experimental labels like exogenic label group, psy harmonics, creative space etc...Also check the last compilation of maniac IQ recs Maniaxstyle and all stuff from G+ and Boshke Beats.Circlesquare as for Feedback I don't think that they will release their typical sound again..Check the latest compilation Psy-trance God is Back by dj Tsuyoshi. It's some quality full on stuff but for sure I prefer the old feedback!Probably Tsuyoshi wants more bookings so he turned into full on..

Tsuyoshi moved on to more typical dance stuff anyway, i think he just wants to survive, experimentation days for him is over...Top production, but....I've been checking his Psy tracklists and i find them quite normal...Dunno

Yep. Quite normal. Keep in mind that Tsuyoshi and his project Joujouka were involved in house/tech productions. And suddenly, after so many years, he reappears with a mix/compilation, including Skazi. Well, I anticipated his comeback, and really got dissapointed. His is talented, no doubt, thats why I expected more. Maybe a more techno/trance fusion psychedelic style, and certainly not your typical Full-On. So, Tsuyoshi, plz, do what you can do...           Bring yourselves into the light

I am definately with you guys. That time time was produced psychedelic trance music. I can say till 1998. Then the magic was lost. As every music. But that is the evolution of psychedelic trance nowdays. And we must be happy that it still exists.

hehe i have this boundless vinyl too Great stuff he made under that project indeed! The man was a step forward from the others. Unfortunately now as other_reality said, he mixes skazi! As for the projects that deus said in his post (Elysium,MWNN,Sandman etc etc...) i agree that they were makin great music. But its not nessecery to have a genre for each one. They are "psychedelic trance". The psychedelic of that period. Now its just different, (i m not talkin about tracks from skazi or projects like them) but still is psychedelic. I dont think either that drugs has to do something with it (as tasos_notrea said). We had drugs in '96 also man.
Circlesquare also said that... /quote "this music works in a mountain environment or an outdoor party, without sounding old or anything, cause it's not faceless techno or "Full On" or anything else that is produced without soul....(Tested in a non Psy crowd, everyone going frenzy....)" /quote
If i understand well you say that ppl (not psy crowd) likes the older stuff and they dont like the present tunes. Well maybe they like the melodic stuff from back then. Have you "Tested" them with for example "Phreaky - Tornado (d. psaras)" or with some Darshan (eg the beast)? Or maybe a tape i have from '59 with a guy (i think the name is Tom King but maybe i m wrong cant remember) with some really "faaar beyond future" muzik. Or battle of the future buddhas?
You are complaing that there is nothing "new" but you then asking for tunez like those! (Odyseus said "hope to listen again like this shamanik tunes from new artists.. " refering to prana) Yes it was great as i said before! But would that be new?!? I dont think so...
And i say again that i m not talking about skazi and alikes artists.
+== All the above are personal opinions based on personal experiences and i dont want to be a "firestarter" here and start a flame about which style is better or not ==+

Yes Drunken Monk, we like Darshan and we like Phreaky too, although their sound is a bit dated now but musically they still move me...
BOTFB i liked some of their earlier stuff, and not so much, never been faves of mine...

I really can't get your whole point, yes we like the "melodic stuff from back then",and nowadays melodic stuff is still produced, but do we like it? No.
Why? Because it is not well written, and the production is.... cold, too digital.Even older Psy artists dissapoint me...Anyway

And the meaning of this whole "tested in a non Psy crowd" thing, is that good music listeners can appreciate good music despite the genre, time produced, trends and so on...Most of my friends hated psy trance, they used to like techno for dancing. Finally the thing proven is that they haven't listened the right stuff...Listening to a killing kick drum and a lot of effects for the whole night is NOT a pleasant experience...Psy trance with "soul" and "intelligence" changed their minds, thank god....

And also, not much of cheesy, melodic goa trance in my sets...i like more frenetic, pagan and dark sounds...Quirk is one of my fave bands for example...

The tracks i mentioned (phreaky,darshan..) are from back then. As for the judge of "non-psy-crowd", i think the same but only for the production part. They can tell if the production is good or bad but if they dont like the style they dont like the style. For example infected mushroom have great production but i dont like them (expect some old tracks). In general what i m saying is that we have heard this tunes back then on their time and its time to evolve. Some ppl likes it some ppl dont.
As for your last statement 'bout your sets, i m really glad!           +-+talking with ali3ns around the universe+-+

Evolution can't be a bad thing and i'm not against it, nor do i reject all the recent stuff. But you have to admit that nowadays more bad music than ever is produced (and released) in general...

As for the saying " good tracks, but we heard it back then" that a lot of people say, i think that it doesn't apply for classical music. And many of the 95-98 period tracks are timeless classics...We're not talking about tracks that are written just to be consumed and danced to in a period of 5 months, we are talking about tracks that even now can cause a sensation and move the dancefloor. Most of the stuff is dated, but still many will be remembered forever after by Psy heads...And here comes the "tested in a non Psy crowd" thing again...

the only evolution that took place is the evolution in music software.and so is the music clarity in a higher level.
but in a musical sense the music that is produced today in this genre is reversed evolution.when a a musical composition becomes so simple and formulaic and the melodies,in most cases,so childish then we are going back to paleolithic ages.
just listen to true goa trance and you will feel the difference, the depth and the spirit.
you can't avoid it,it is in your nature!
