Hi guys, ive been inactive for some time because of school work, anyway.
Is there any tutorial whatsoever to make goa trance? what is the main diference between that and psytrance?
I know that bass and kick are less "punchy" (am I right? ) yet the melodies are much more psychedelic.

From my understanding: It was called "goa trance" back when Goa was the main place that it was happening. The change of name to "psychedelic trance" or "psytrance" happened when Goa became somewhat less of a nice place to party and the scene spread out.
They aren't really separate genres. Usually when people set up a contrast between "goa trance" and "psytrance" they compare mid-90s goa trance and mid-2000s psytrance, but if you listen to the music between those times you see it was a gradual transition so you can't really draw a line separating them. |

I'm not aware of any tutorials but i must say when it comes to mind-easy listening, or in another words, when i want to listen to music with my mind instead of my ears, i choose goa trance to hear to. For me it's a really smooth style, no hard parts, wicked edges.. Non of that stuff, just pure smooth energy flows throughout each track.

Same here.
Nowadays I can't stand the new generation of full on music,so when I want to listen music with my "mind" I choose to listen to night full on and new oldschool goa trance

production wise for me the main difference are the gears ,you give me modern tool i have modern sound.. yeah i can make goa melodie with my plugs with crystal clear sound but it dont sound like goa.. it sound like something that have been made in 2011.
same when beat agency and filteria posted some part of tunes trying to recreate the music around 92...i tried.. except that my tune was sounding like something fresh from beatport.. but you give me a 909 303 blah blah.. it will sound 92 with no trouble.. might be just me,lack of skill dunno, workflow , how the tools inspire me..

I've heard before that GOA typically uses natural instruments and percussion elements, where as psy is more artificial.
I think the lines have blurred alot these days though.

yeah mate anyway it was a bit offtopic,i think the main difference is in the arrangement ,the melodies..not as low and different basslines...different kicks with not so fast pitch modulation...depends the artists and tunes |

That depends on how much you identify and know with/about goa. I dig goa style because of the 'out of the box but refreshing' kicks and percussion, also the melodies seem more liquid, in a way.
