I have never heard this gentleman play but i am looking forward to the experience to see what its all about. I'm listening to Worldbridger right now, very nicely compiled CD; Orestis, Polyphonia, Kindzadza and Kulu are smashing  |

Goa Gil, the only time I have heard that fella was at a party in Anjuna Beach, sometime around 87. Did not impress me in the least then. I have not heard what he is doing now, there were some tracks some time ago , not at all my style. Peter told me some years ago he was playing a lot of Russian sounds, kinda like Mubali described in an earlier post... he never was much of a mixer, and he already seemed to look old in Goa back in the days.

Gil in Los Angeles next month. First time since '98 or so.
but I'm afraid...
...afraid of getting bored.
So much hype about his crazy sets but it's not a mystery what he plays. 20 hours of one style? Can there be that much dynamics in a 20 hour set with one style?
So how to mentally prepare for this? and not get bored?
Still wish he'd show up in a elf costume and start spinning suomi with a goofy smile on his face. Then I'll know he's reached enlightenment. Haha

Just the 'repetetive beats' can take you into TRANCE, so not sure how would one style for 20 hours can not take you into TRANCE.
I have heard his sets thrice & never got bored, he plays intense psychedelic music so i wonder how that would bore some one & i always look forward to the ritual We were born naked & grow up to become wicked. |
