DISCRIPTION OF GIL'S NEW ALBUM -
The biggest human gathering on earth, The Kumbh Mela, takes place every 12 years in Haridwar, India.
The most recent one held there in 2010 had a very significant meaning for us, because at that point Goa Gil had been
officially granted the honorable title of ‘Antarashtriya Mandal ka Shri Mahant’ (also known as 'Shri Maharaj’) by the
Council of Elders or the 'Shri Panch' of the Juna Akara. The ceremony took place at the presence of numerous Shri
Mahants, Mahatmas, Babas and guests.
This officially makes Goa Gil the world's one and only DJ with that title!
The new album is naturally named "Shri Maharaj", and is one of Goa Gil’s most important albums.
In Shri Maharaj, Goa Gil exposes himself like never before, sharing his most private and intimate spiritual life.
No doubt it's his most electrifying and groundbreaking album to date. Not only does the album break all boundaries of
sound and concept known today, Goa Gil pushes the music to the limit, and is even more daring than ever.
We are absolutly sure that, like ‘Kali Yuga’, this album is going to be another milestone in psychedelic trance.
Goa Gil is one of the most influential DJs in the world today. For many years has been known as the standard bearer of
the psychedelic Goa trance scene, and is also known for his sets that are a source of not only inspiration for others,
but also indication for what is the current, most cutting edge dark psy music around.
It is no coincidence that this album comes out at this time. It will surely give a strong push to the big dark music wave that
is happening now, and it coincides with his world tour which is taking place at this time.
Shri Maharaj raises the inevitable question: "Where do we goa from here..?"

HA!HA!HA! This man is totally full of S**T. I don't know how he can get away with crap like this. Just a few questions -

‘Antarashtriya Mandal ka Shri Mahant’- All it means is one of the sects appointed him "Head of international groups" that's what it means, why it has very significant meaning for us?? Can somebody explain.
2) This officially makes Goa Gil the world's one and only DJ with that title!
WTF what difference does it make at least be a good Dj before anything else.

Kali Yuga was a milestone he!he!he! u gotta be kidding me.
4) WHO THE F**K WRITES THIS NONSENSE???
5) It is just a marketing drama and he gets away with it. I have heard better Dj's than him minus the drama.

I've seen worse... at least Goa Gil can credibly claim to be a real bigwig in this scene. Sometimes you have total nobodies writing the same about their monumental releases long-awaited by legions of fans all around the globe. At least in Gil's case a lot of people genuinely look up to him for inspiration and direction, so much of what is written above isn't too far from the truth.

There r two sides to this, I have never disagreed about his music, dark trance and everything. I am ok with that, he has a very good standing mongst the legends of the world but THERE IS A SECOND SIDE Which is he just writes all this Bull and uses it to show people I am holier than u, screw u. |

‘Antarashtriya Mandal ka Shri Mahant’ - All this nonsense means is that he is appointed as a spokesperson for International affairs or Head of international groups. If u don't believe me somebody else can translate it for u, And it's written - "has a very significant meaning for us". WHYYYYYYY???????? |

He should not use Hinduism as a marketing tool. C'mon man I have met alot of Baba's in trance scene Who do not demand respect like he does. Your music should speak for u, not all this drama.

sniff sniff i smell jealousy and envy...hes not misrepresenting the facts hes only highlighting them i see nothing wrong with it..his djing is a topic of debate...but it fills the floors...whats wrong with using hinduism in marketing---you dont seem to complain when om tshirts are sold --you may have seen a lot of babas who dont demand respect like he does because they are not recognized yet...let recognition come to them...and they will all become Nityanands and Baba Ramdevs.

I don't have any jealousy and envy. Like I said he has done a lot for trance scene but these dramas, This is a trance scene not a freaking Yoga Asharam. Cheers. |

You can shit how much you like on Goa Gil, he is number one psy trance dj even today.
Shri maharaj or Shri mahant is a title that babas get after 40 years of being a baba and serving to their gurus and lineage. He, Baba Rampuri and one more guy were the first saddhus in history to get this title in the history. If this is not a big achievment, to be dedicated for 40 years to spirituality and helping mankind, i dont know what it is...
Psy trance is a spiritual music and i see this as a very big thing...
Woud you prefer more description such as: killah basslines with sharp killah leads etc... or some copy paste stuff that everyone use today?
Since the begining of the career of Goa Gil it was known that he is looking at the spiritual side of the music, and most of the dj's and artists looked it that way, then some wannabe vip, became rock stars with their "crativity" and ruined the scene, and used their cheap "porno" approach to sell their name.
