wow! just back from Goa Gil in ORegon.

He rocked it on till the break of dawn!
and then on the whole day through...

His mixing was smooth enough, DATs sounded crunchy and crisp, and he looked pretty healthy and into it - A good, peaceful presence. It was quite different that my pick of party music - most of my non-trancer friends would not have survived it well, but it wasn't so bad either. unquestionably psychedelic...hard and crunchy, but not mean or sadistic...

A full power, and humbling experience - that makes me want to apolizge to some of you guys - including Gil... for being so skeptical...

(admittedly i have an ex-hippie hang-up complex with "darkness" that needs some processing. The music he promotes in his Top 10 sounds worse "on paper" than it actually does on the outdoor dancefloor)

I'm officially sorry - and will be more open-minded (the very point of this whole crazy adventure)... next time.

big peace,
Brett

sho's jaw officially dropping!~

tho this furthers my theory that people who dont like "trauma trance" just know that they do like it...the same music people say they cant stand causes them to dance uncontrollably at the gil parties...people hear the word dark and get all freaky!~ we arent sacrificing goats here...just stomping madly to music that is very psychedelic the point of psychedelic trance...

so brett do some community service spread the word...heheheheheh !~           freaks unite!!!!

really nice to hear that you enjoyed it Brett, it is really funny how the misnomer 'dark music' is so misinterpreted...aint it? it always puts a huge grin on my face, albeit it is a wicked one!!
anyway keep rockin on brother, the party has just begun

It is interesting to find quite a few people do not like darker trance, because it isn't supposedly party music or is just too harsh. Of course I can understand this. But being Dutch I grew up with hardcore techno, that was my first love in dance music.

So a bit of dark trance to me sounds rather peaceful :-D I was at the Goagil party also and I loved it a lot(been to one before in Sept. 2002). Goa and psy trance to me has something which makes me wanting to dance forever, that is, the psychedelic nature of this music, just as hardcore made me dance forever cause it is just relentlesly pounding, ahh the memories 8-) .

And Goagil appeals nicely to this by delivering an almost 24 hour set. Which I can respect a lot, as I just hate these overcrowded and overcharged parties with 20+ dj`s and acts, that just plain sucks(been there and hated it). There is just so much more value to a small party with one or a few dj`s and acts.

I have to say though, Goagil is not the best dj I have heard wrt to skills, but he makes this up by the quality of music, the long set and much more. I`m rather used to dj`s like Jeff Mills, Steve Mason and countless of quality Dutch (Hardcore) dj`s. I noticed he often either mixed the next track in a bit sloppy or kind of faded a bit from one track to another, which got me a bit out of my rythm. But well, seeing the length of his set it is to be expected there are mistakes. I don`t try to critisise him, it is my objective observation and well it was such an enlighting experience the small glitches are more than forgiven :-)

By the way, watch this space for a link to some pictures I have made, they`ll be back in 2 days. There were a lot of really nice(and cute) people and I just loved making pictures of them.           Take me dancing naked in the rain

Hello

only five more days to go!!!!!!! This is just a note to ask that if you have a fire extinguisher, that you bring it to the birthday party. it is a bit drier this year in california, and we would like everyone to be aware of this. Smokers, please make a burning man style ashtray for yourself as well. and remember, if you are from iceland, you get in free.

yeah!!!!!!!!

For anyone from LA looking for a ride up, we might be able to help depending on how the arrangements go with the rental van. The only way to know for sure is to leave me a message and a way I can promptly reach you. Your share of the costs would be fairly inexpensive and well worth it.
We ask, however, that you come with a smile and a pair of horns (fangs optional). Absolutely NO holy water though or fluffy bunnies or angels or anything in that department.
