Hey there,

This lead has troubled me a lot since the track was released. It's the most beautiful resonance of a filter I've ever heard! Any idea on how can I get a filter to sound like that?! I think it's not only the filter, there's more arround it and an awesome automation work but...

Anyway here's the lead:

Comes in at 4:28. The part that really leaves me speechless is between 4:32 and 4:33, and between 4:36 and 4:38.
Thanks in advance

PS: I know there's an LFO rate automation but I can't just make a filter sound like that. What kind of filter is this?          Pyrex :: Traveling without moving

if you have a nord lead 2x or discovery pro vst try a triangle wave with a slight formant filter with half to a bit more than half resonance. then take another bank (since on these synths you can have 2 or more patches loaded up at once) and have it be a saw wave with a hi pass filter with little to no resonance and turn the volume down on that osc so its not as loud as the other bank/patch and then turn the lfo rates to the the same as the triangle formant patch so they play on the same rate (for the time being) then play with some automation with the two banks and their lfos till they fit with your track and/or taste. as well as filter envelops and amp envelops im sure that should get you close or at least off to a good start hope it helps! its just what it sounds like to me.           http://soundcloud.com/brentmalik

Thanks man! The synth feels talkish, so formant is probably the way to go, but none of the VST's I have has a formant filter.

EDIT: Forget it, trying at Vanguard

Anytime my friend! you should be able to accomplish similar with that, btw actually ether the formant type filter or maybe the x filter would work really well for this then there is another one thats some other letter but im brain dead and can't remember what it is :/ but maybe try out that one too hehe

also i hear that sugar bytes WOW filter is great for formant stuff if you ever need a 3rd party plug in that is uber handy for that stuff hehe

Can I use a nord lead 3 to get that type of lead to?

wouldn't see why not as long as you have the ability to have more than one bank/patch at the same time and a formant filter. of course           http://soundcloud.com/brentmalik
