For instance a discussion on basslines or even a specific bassline, and how it might be created, is different from asking 'Someone give me a patch for GMS bass, because I'm a lazy peice of shit.'

when i see someone asking for help, i always think its "i've spent a lot of hours trying but have failed, can you help?"

off course, if there are dozens of similar threads, i usually skip it...           roll a joint or STFU :)

Maybe i will open a topic 'sy000321 Bass' Or 'Bukboy Bass' And then will see . Then you will help to many peoples to build 1 And then we all work with the same ones of Bukboy and you . I say no bad to help somtimes , But dont ask for somthing that have done already and before , Thats my point of view in here , Thats what i wanna make clear , not nothing else , Where is your originality ? , Are you sick person ? , Never got your own idea ? Mind problem ? Cant think ? Any limitation or restriction ? , Open your head .. Take the time .. Be creative , It will come . Be sure . Belive me .

Hey ppls .. Why you need always to watch in the other plate & saucer . Made your own , Its very simple . Enjoy the music , All this is redundant and superfluous .

It's the poppification of trance music that, personally, winds me up. Dumbing down/lowest common denominator, and all that. Lost cause, I know, but I still believe in the power of this music and have to act according to my conscience. If I may assume that you're referring to me when you say 'veteran' (and I'm sure you'll let me know if, in my self-absorption, I've got that wrong): I may have my jaded moments - who wouldn't after 12 years - but I try hard not to condescend to know better than anyone else. I've lost count of the number of times I've been corrected on something (more than once by yourself, I'm sure) or have put my hand up to admit my mistakes.

Nah not referring to you specifically, just the jaded veteran archetype, I am quite often him myself, you know the guy, got a few years (or too many for his level of popularity) under his belt, gets tired of seeing people post the same things over and over again, so starts to snipe at people who are actually more excited about music than he is, simply because their experience is redundant and trite to him. I have come to believe this is a bad way to behave. The true commodity in music is not expertise, it is excitement and inspiration. I have heard simplistic, amateurish, poorly written tracks which jazzed me more than the most top notch, experienced output by jaded old farts (like, errr, Aerosmith? hehe)

Man if someone wants to roll up a fat bass like GMS, and put Madonna over top of it, if it makes them and 15 other people jump around for 7 minutes its worth something. This whole music thing is about mix and match, people take a bassline from GMS, a kick drum from Van Dyk, a melody from Husker Du, a synth lead stolen from Thomas Dolby, etc. So it doesn't surprise me that people wanna study basic techniques by imitating them, that's how entry level mix and match skill is developed, and that sort of weird hybrid invention is what psy is supposed to be about IMO. You know I value your opinion, I just think we differ here, I love the whoring of psy.

I wrote completely experimental music for my first 10 years, with absolutely no intention of releasing it. It was fun, but it is an entirely different aim from someone who actually has aspirations toward making a difference in some pop scene (and they are all POP scenes, pop and scene are redundant words.) I see a lot of "be yourself" but if someone is making music for a SCENE then that music is referential and deferential to other music which preceded it, which means it incorporates older elements recycled, and in order to do this recycling and hybridizing, which is the true art of pop, someone has to study the fundamentals by copying what others have done.

Now if they have no interest in "pop," I agree, be yourself, it can be very liberating. But the two aims are very, very different and a lot of people here and elsewhere on the net like to presume which aim the person posting the topic HAS when they may not even actually know.

As soon as you put music up for sale, it becomes POP, and it has no more pure integrity, the difference in integrity artistically from there is a matter of gradients, but all pop is whore music in one way or another, and there is no room for shame in whoredom.

I think the problem here is the manner in which some ppl are asking their questions.

In a forum of knowledge-sharing it is all about making the question interesting for all parties. Really, I guarantee that if you just...

1) ask nicely
2) motivate why you're so fascinated by that particular sound or whatever
3) tell us (or show us) what you've tried and how well that worked

... you will get a decent answer, perhaps even from the artist him/herself and you'll hopefully avoid any condescending posts.

Now... it is when people ask stuff in a 'give it to me' way and it is blatantly obvious that they haven't even tried or considered reading/searching for the answer that pisses me and many others off. I honestly believe that it is for their own good if these ppl are not given any help because they must realize that unless they have a problem-solving attitude they will never get anywhere in music making anyway.

I'll answer any stupid question if the poster shows the right attitude, because that's how I'd like to be treated myself. But when someone can't even think of trying google first.... *sigh*

Inner Demon .. You make my point more clear in here with your different special way , Way of Good manners , Toleration , Politeness , Necessity & requirement of the question and the final target (Of the borrower inquirer questioner) Thx for that ! Hope other intelligents and open mind peoples in this site will accept & receive this attitude of yours for an better musical world and feeling .

when i play guitar , and able to get favorite band sound , its one of the most happy stuff and immidiatly i will start play this song , yeah its just for fun not for writing , but then i can use the same fx with diffrent line.. i think psytrance producers forget its all about the melody .. arrangment... that comes later ;P thats why i dont like most progressive trance , they dont think or make music , just cold arrangment (which is also very cool if you have actualy real point)
i meen.. if i had gms bassline in my hand , it still wouldnt sound like gms track.. because no one can BE someone else.. my trip aint theirs.. and i dont see whats so wrong to try as long you keep it in your own computer as practice and not release it so my poor ears will not suffer

personly i love to practice , and get many basslines i heard out.. instrument , eq , line , evrything.. not gonna use this , but its fun and very helpfull and i do use the knowledge i earn from playing with that stuff..

I dont think there is any problem about sharing information, just because the guy wants to know the synth that GMS uses for basses, it doesnt mean he is going to do it the same, it just means that he likes how it sounds. I would like to know technics of masteering, compression, eq and etc. does that mean i am lazy to learn my self? OF COURSE NOT. i try and try and every day i improve more, but if there is a BASIC starting point from that, why cant i know it?
all artists got help from everybody, from forums, books, other artists and etc.
Like every artist appreciate the quality of IM tracks...almost all of them!!! dont you think they would like to know how to achieve that quality?
Long time ago a read in a Erez interview that something about 10 years ago, Erez, Ido 0phir from domestic and etc, where all getting started in Impulse tracktor. They were all helping each others out in a certain forum. Does that mean they are going to do the same sounds??

Wow, this forum is getting worse every day. When I joined this forum some time ago it was a great source to knowledge(old threats still is) But now it is all about who can be most sarcastic when newbies want help, if ppl don't like the threats why don't they just shut up and follow some other threat or something....?
