so what are ya'lls opinions of glowsticks?
i had to ban them from my parties because of the enviromental impact.
don't get me wrong, i love em, and i can dance with them better than you. but they just aren't cool enough to warrant the toxic chemicals leeching into our dear mother.
thoughts? |

They looked cool, when I hanged out in Chicago's gay clubs. Go very well with the 80s cheese and with house – and with overall festive atmosphere of those places, of course. And you can throw them away into any of the millions of garbage cans, courtesy of Mayor Daley – mother Earth may be fine with that.
If people don’t throw them on the ground in forests but take them back to their (sub)urban wasteland and dispose properly, it shouldn’t be a problem.

I don't want to go to any party where I am TOLD not to do something.
I am not a child. If you tell me that you do not want glowsticks left on the ground, then glowsticks will not be left on the ground.
If this is a problem, then maybe you need to aim your events at a more mature group. |

well, it's not like i take them away from people, i just make it very clear that we'd prefer them to not be there due to environmental reasons....
mother earth is more important than your shiny things.
i may be known as a pretentious dick, but i'm not a party nazi

I prefer battery operated glow sticks as more eco friendly as reusable. Plus I used to have ones that glowed 3 different colors. Found a cool trick was to spin one around on short string then point a laser on flatish angle to make super trippy effect that is hard to explain. |

saint carl: ya know, i've tried those battery ops, and they always break.
my particular stickin style tends to involve alot of finger twists and turns ( muahaha, i'm so cool :/ )
and the battery sides fuck my balance all to hell.
any electronics nerds wanna help me design/make a battery op that's the exact size/shape/balance of normal chem lights?? |

If during the course of your life you will spend more than ~50 bucks on glowsticks, do yourself and the environment a favor and order a pair of LED glowsticks. SO MUCH COOLER than regular shitty glowsticks and much less environmental impact.
every single party I go to I always end up picking up a number of disposable glowsticks at the end and it makes me mad.
They are also weighted much better than regular glowsticks and as such give you a much better degree of control. You can remove the weights if you want to do contact style glowsticking with wraps and shit - not my thing personally, I like the smooth flow of poi style 
To each their own, but nothing trips me out or other people out more (imo) than cool geometric patterns hanging in the air

I think glowsticks are quite nice,everything looks more alive and colourfull on the night with them.
But if they are bad for nature,and if it is impossible to get some glowsticks that are friendly for nature and not toxic or to gather every glowstick after the party(which may be hard) i think it is good to not use them,absolutely.
Since psytrance is much about the link between everything,nature and us,and since this culture is much about new ways of thinking and not to be trapped in old patterns, i view this as very natural.It is very good to do things like this.
