Can you recommend some glitchy tracks for me to observe and absorb?

Try the album called "Emotional Technologies" from BT(Brian Transeau). Imho, he´s the master of this trick!

And I thought that glitches were supposed to be cutting up the .wav file and applying offline effects (pitch-down, cutting a section not according to beat and looping it, adding a 1/16th note to the length of a pattern when applying effects on the main channel... things that Squarepusher has been doing for over a decade now). All those effects are just being lazy - not saying the results aren't cool, but seriously, you can be far more imaginative otherwise (and offline processing does tend to sound somewhat cleaner). As long as the sound is mixed right, you can do whatever you want - the wilder the processing, the cooler the "glitch".
And as an added point: the Buffer Override and DBlue Glitch are abused and not used as dramatically as possible in psytrance - since they change the sound too much. Check out IDM where the glitches are coherent parts of music instead of trying to add forced inconcistency (Autechre as a prime example). http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222 |

i would stay with Glitch if i were you.
but Trasher 2 is pretty good.
i think its ReFx but im really not sure about it.
Lucifer is also very good, i use it alot.
but, as said, you can just manually edit every single thing, it'll take you longer, but that way you can just take control of everything you're hearing.
