Something really funny happened. I was working on some music and after i shut cubase i started to listen to some music on winamp. and everything was playing fast like all files were speed up. by quite a few BPM. I re-started and now all is fine again.
My question here is WTF was that. It was kinda cool. hehe... is there a way i can "switch" it on and off.           https://www.djjeto.com

You were probably stuck on 44.1 vs 48 or 32 kHz. Happens all the time when playing something at a different sampling rate, your audio interface can't play 2 different sources at different rates simultaneously, so it chooses one and that's the effect.

CD audio is at 44.1, while most divx movies etc vary widely.

So the effect takes place when at a higher sample rate or lower?

Depends if you're moving up or down in sampling rates. A 48 kHz track played back at 44.1 will sound slow since it is essentially being stretched.

I'm not sure from your original message which thing was being sped up.

DVD movies are usually recorded at 48 for higher audio quality while divx movies etc sacrifice quality at lower sampling rates to save disk space.

I may be getting something reversed here as I have a short attention span and drink heavily, but this is the general theory. Things always get fucked up like this for me if I play a movie while taking a break from working on tracks, then click back over into Cubase.

yeah man... i think its because i have like 4 diffrent audio interfaces installed. what to do when nowdays almost everything comes with a soundcard in built ...
i kinda figured it had something to do wit the sample rate. just trying to figure it out.. because it never happened before..           https://www.djjeto.com

hmmm... Usually ur soundcard has a software interface where u can check/change the sample rate/bit depth... Ofcourse, the cheapest soundcards can't... But they have a fixed sample rate/bit depth anyway...
