ghost in the shell is kickass anime/manga... the first and second movie [innocence] featured some heavy concepts on jungian collective consciousness archetypes.. and Stand Alone Complex [SAC] Series [2 seasons & 1 movie] was focused more around the exploits of motoko and the rest of section 9.
one of the best anime's i've seen, second to full metal alchemist. pretty kool score/soundtrack as well.
p.s: motoko from SAC is the hottest fictional character i've ever known

I had the fortune to see it on a cinema on a international film festival and it leave the audience breathless, even the more adult audience like it.

one of my geeks fellas came once to my house to smoke out and brought it with him along with full metal alchemist and apple seed, so we watch em, I like them, he´s now a fat version of a japanese anime himself, they call him Dj Nino......

I watched the first series and loved it, watched the second and was pretty much hooked. I like the films but i prefer the series', it's clever how all the episodes are related.
very good anime though!

Nearly as overrated as Akira. If you want deep philosophical stuff with weird sci-fi overtones Serial Experiments Lain is infinitely better.

I thought i akira was pretty awful, really like ghost in the shell though. makes for pleasant watching and manages to get some pretty good points across, really got me thinking.
i'll check that serial experiments lain out tomorow though, sounds good
and yes AnixGleo, Miyazaki's films are simply AMAZING. Think i'm gonna watch totoro before work tomorow

Great movie mostly due to its amazing soundtrack and dark cyberpunk atmosphere.
Its about time to see it again i think.
