Hi !
Anyone who has any ideas on how i can get the
bass and kick run tight together.
Lately i´ve been changing the position of the midinotes and got better results this way. When i´ve exported wav and bass and imported them again and changed their length i´ve also got better reults than using the vst synth´s right away. But still i find it difficult to make the bass and kick to run really tight together.
Best regards |

there´s no way than tweakin the envelope until it´s best. exportin to wave is a nice option to save a nice part of bass with nice envelope "flow". but first u have to ensure your bass is what u where searching for. i leave some space between each note, just a little, to ensure each note is easily heard. after it´s only tweaking.
as i donno about the bpm you´re workin on i suggest u maybe should keep attention on the attack and decaysettings and on the filterenvelope.
if there´s no possibility to get it that tight u want, u maybe just have to choose another synth with faster envelopes. pretty hard to say now.
another option i tried often is to sidechain the bass to the kick. did that few times and gave it a try, sure works, but donno how to say, didn´t like the way it sounded after.
no compression, no limiting. keep tweaking....
maybe example would be easier to comment
cheers

Thanx for reply, maybe that´s right finding the right bass and kick and adjust the envelpopes.
I really never haven´t had any good result´s with sidechaining.I believe it doesn´t help at all if the kick bass doesn´t sound good from the beginning.
Im gonna try moving around the midinotes and see what happens.Anyone who can give me some more advices.
When im listening to psy it sounds that the bass really comes fast after the kick. How can i recieve this results ? |

set attack to quite low value (0) and put
the first bass note on the next quarter beat to the kick.
then just play with decay to make it roll
(or take a too long decay, if you want to lower that later with the sampler)
those envelopes got kinda positioning function.
attack controls the start and decay/release the end. http://www.myspace.com/realtimeproject |

if you want it closer, you'd need to put it on the same step as the kick and work with side-chained compression.
i always think, that the sum of that parameters define the character of the sound. http://www.myspace.com/realtimeproject |

make sure the retrigger function on your vst's oscillator section is turned on so it starts fresh everytime it hits a midi note and use sidechain compression, play with the decay on the sidechain to change how tightly it fits, and then just make sure your envelopes are all okay i guess. you shouldn't reallllly have to export your bass to wav. that should be everything
