Why is it that synthsounds gets boring after a while, and a guitar doesnt?
It have to do with taste of course, but still a synth can do a whole lot of different sounds than a guitar... Maybee thats the key..
Whats your opinion, bwana?

troglodyte - Good question, haha. Though i dont get bored of good synth sounds...
i think its more a matter of what you play on them that makes it boring or not... ? same as with any instrument ?

but ill agree that their is something special with string instruments, they are so lively and rich in harmonics..

rich in harmonics its the basic answer.
I also believe that we are addicted to instruments we firtst hear.
We usually first listen to guitar and then to psy sounds.
Also playing natural instrument gives an amazing feel that no synth can give.
For example while playing the harp,all the instruments sound goes directly to all your body from the nails to the hair...

well, IMHO, string instruments as NES mentioned have multiple contents, which make them per nature more harmonic.
Also A typical string has i.e. a short attack, long decay time , a strong resonance portion, and is usually halled, sustained and sometimes distorted
If you apply all these to a synth sound, you get the same interesting feel with them.
As you said Troggy, it is also matter of taste, placement and application of those in a song. If you misplace a string sound or make it too repetitive without variation, you can get bored by it too.

Uga! Well this is not an anti-synththread... just a thought from me when i sit home playing around with my gear.. I get bored faster with a synth than a guitar. Thats a fact, imo. You seem offended, cool down man. Do a chilltrack....
AND i love synthsounds also.. If you though this was a diss on psytrance, you thought wrong. This genre is by far the most amazing music i`ve experienced. Hooked since solipse 99 
And some days the guitar are boring, and the kurzweil K2000 more amusing.. The thing is today i feel like this..
Hard to fit a guitar in a psytrack, fucks the feeling imo. Pistolero with Juno Reactor is an exception though. And some others also. I made a psytrack once, "brainlock" with a guitarpart.. It did its work but not so crispsounding as i wanted! hehehe
OffTopicTip:Dont use 3000$ microphone to record in your apartment, i did. The sensitive membrane did pick up the guitar but also everything else in square mile.. I learned something that time anyway.. =)

im the other way, i played guitar for 12 years got bored of the sameyness (even with rack effects)
i prefer to use my synths and computer for that "bigger soundcanvass" , really it seems almost infinte to me |

HAHA! i have to add also.. After a big partyweekend with psytrance, i like to come home and put on "unplugged" album and enjoy it.
I really hope no one here think im a racist against synths... then please delete this thread.
