Get the simplest GF FX5200... wit h128mb ddr it's more than enough running 2 monitors.
beats my matrox g450 easy.

Matrox would be the best and efficient choice.

as I said, matrox didn't handle fast dual monitor jobs here... it's 'thought' to be good - but it doesn't perform when my cpu is at 95% strugling audio...
geforce fx5200 is the cheapest card today, and it supports dual head.

g550 DH or gf fx5200???
Sorry to ask but i was thinking to buy Matrox g550 till the time i saw this post...now i'm confused.
I really want to know if i can work with 2 normal PC monitors (CRT not TFT) at the same time with Gforce fx5200,using for example in the first one Cubase sx and in the second some VST'S???
Thanx! |

I done some more research into this. If you are only using cubase and other '2D' programs, then the matrox g550 is amazing, it will beat most other gfx cards (according to sound on sound magazine). If you play alot of games then you need something like the fx5200 or better. If you want to use 2 CRT monitors with the g550 then you need to get an adtapter that converts the DVI output into standard VGA, this is also the case with most of the newer nVidea/ati chipset cards.
This is a site from where you can get one of these converters (it's right at the bottom of the page)

it's about 6 pounds so check if your gfx card has two different outputs and save yourself buying a new card

if you don't play 3d games , matrox g450 or g550 will be the absolute best in 2d applications (music software, almost every software that isn't a game)
first i had the g450
i bought me the ti4200 (nvidia) to play 3d games and the difference in my desktop & normal applications was BIG, matrox has the sharpest image !!!!! |

I also wanted to plug an extra monitor,
I've got a 64mb graphics card, but its not dual monitor, my question was can't we have two graphics cards?
Like, can I buy a really cheap graphic card just for the other monitor (just to have logic arranje window) and keep this one (64Mb) for this one? |
