Getting a bit of swing to the hats

I think it is important that if you use swing, you have to be consequent, and use it on all rythmic elements, or else it wont be as tight.
But never say never, experiment!!! |

Swing is good but I have found a better way to humanize my tracks and let them "live a little". All you have to do is disable the snap function so you can zoom way into the grid and move the individual audio files or MIDI notes a tick/sample foreward here and backward there. I usually like laying down 3,4,5 hats together then edit their swing that way then mute and unmute to hear which ones I really like. This is my first post and I'm excited to be a part of this forum. hey nice ideas! i use to put eq to each sample, some reverb in ones, other with delays, other with flanger, you know....i try to not make a ''flat'' loop, little details like reverse samples too... saludos!!!

I think this way is a good for nice grooves, too. And sometimes a good delay is very helpful.
