Just got the following VSTi's :
Albino 2(Albino 1 can't be compared to this)
Superwave(The ultimate trance soft synth)
ReFX - Vanguard(Fat and heavy, it has what the other two don't)
They are absolutely brilliant. You will have a hard time choosing the best sound coz simply they're all amazing, in all three.
In these VSTi's you'll probably find all the preset sounds you are looking for. |

Albino 2 is really great, now with the gating effect in v2.01 even better.
The other twos are not my favourites, i like Vanguard more then the Superwave.
Ill add some more coz this are good synth but there are much other and even better ones, but it is always a matter of taste and the use of them, and the ability to design sounds.
So get these too:

Novation V-Station
NI Absynth
Synapse Hydra
Steinberg D'cota
This can be a almost neverending list, coz there are alot of high quality softsynth avaible and there are coming more and more.
Another good one is the new congreteFX Rock freeware distortation synth.
So if u need noise and dist sounds, check this one:

Novation Bass Station is awesome for Acid basses , maybe most advanced bass VSTi . If you feel not enough of using 5 parameters while tweaking in bass machines so it is for you.
Vanguard is most natural sounding VSTi .
Albino most advanced synthesys VSTi .
Absynth most advanced VSTi .
With these everyone can create cool music . |

Vanguard, tough phat and with great preset's, lacks a litle presence, wich I can't even get with EQ and compression.
I use it nonetheless  , yet i still prefer to use imposcar or v-station.
I think i'll try albino sometime soon |

I tried Imposcar but i find it is low level synth because it sound like low level FM synthesis , i wonder why do you like it and there are many who do ? Please i realy want to know . |

Occasionally the vanguard might sound a little thin, but I usually put some distortion or some overdrive on it and it works fine for me...

cos its good man its fat with good filters nice clean sound not much that digital artifacts good presets and easy to tweak with lots of capabilities i think you should try it more
and the price is not huge in compare to other vstis with less good sound and more money
