It isnt really track based playlist. It`s more a track fake playlist. They put the option so you can organize the playlist by tracks, and put colors, but after all, the playlist is STILL THE SAME CONCEPT. NOTHING HAS CHANGED. Looks like ppl that are working on FL are either lazy, or just want to scam us.
I just want them to get rid of the patterns systems.

If they get out the patterns, and just let you create a midi event anywhere on the playlist, FL would be perfect for me. The patterns are just a annoyng, no need to have a list with 999 patterns, is much better to let you just create a pattern wherever you want on the playlist, without havin to select a pattern to use from a list. I think thats the weak point on FL. Beside this is a very pratical and intuitive daw. I tried Reaper this past weeks, I like, nice concept, but firts they need to improve the automation, as far i tested is really limited, and, major thing, they need to put an internal audio editor on it, or at least find a way to let you send the sample to the external editor, edit it, and send it back to the daw without having to save anything. That's why i really like edson

Man, i m really pissed with the image-line team. What they think? That we are a bunch of bastard idiots?
They put on their website the ``track based arranging`` as a new feature in FL9, but wtf??!! Someone has to tell them what really is a track oriented playlist. IMO, what they have done is called ``fake publicity`` or SCAM

Well, maybe that's just you. The pattern system is the trademark of FL for many years now and it is what it makes the workflow so easy and fast imho.
Moreover the playlist may retain the same concept but many things have changed. For instance you can cut, slice and reorganize parts in the playlist without creating a new pattern every time, big advance since earlier versions. Still, yes there are stuff that need to be changed but to claim that imageline wants to fool us is plain wrong. You get the update for free after all...
Cheers!

Im just saying about the fact, that they posted in their website that the FL9 now would came with two types of playlists, one of them being the track based playlist. But the FACT is that it is not a truly track based playlist, for me this is a scam.
Dont get me wrong, i use fl and like a lot of things about it, but for me what they did is wrong. I feel like i m fooled.
I was waiting this feature on FL for a long time, i think that the day that they truly eliminate the pattern list, and just let you create a pattern when and where you want at the playlist, keep everything else the same, than it will be a perfect daw for me.

you can make simple one track per channel
its up to you. fl studio is more modular then other daw´s. but you are free to put only patterns/clips of one channel to one line. so you get your cubase feeling
as i know i can move my patterns on every point in the playlist. so i can make a good overview of my song. i use it often like subgroups. in other daws i have to make foldertracks to get a similar behavior. and i and think so many other fl users dont want to miss the patterns for making drumloops and catching ideas.
when others are loading battery...in fl9 the beat goes on and on

that`s not the point. I can do that in FL 8.
The only difference is that in FL 9 you can put name and colors to the line, and that`s it. My point is, if they (image-line) say in their website that FL9 will have a new feature, but when we look is not really what they said you know, that`s a scam for me.
If they had just put in their website ``now you can name and put colors at the playlist so you can have a track oriented playlist feeling`` than i would be ok. But they put on their website: ``track oriented playlist`` as a new feature in FL9, and that is not the true for me.
Hope you guys get my point this time.

just to clarify, i m not pissed because they didnt put the system on FL9, that is not a problem i still use fl.
But because they said one thing while the reality is different from what they said, that is what i m pissed with.

ok indeed it isnt perfect yet but.. they are in the right direction, allready ther playlist is much more easier to organize and the visual represantation of the midi and audio is by far better than blocks!
what they need to do is link each channel to a pattern, add visual indicators of wich channel is active and have the abillity to group a step sequencer to a folder like channel in the playlist if you want to have multiple patterns in one channel!
all in all its a free update thats giving you better tools and a faster workflow than before.
lets see how they going to advance what they started!

plz no! I like it the way it's going now: you put whatever you want coming from whereever you want in one track, visuable on every aspect (like automation). They just need to implement the efx per track thing. That would improve final mixdown-issues.
