"Get the Lead Out", the debut release from San Francisco’s PsyBooty Records, is astonishingly good for a debut album with a clearly unorthodox approach. The album represents a fusion of genres and electronic motifs in which the boundaries of House, Psytrance, and Progressive are blurred and in some cases irrelevant. It’s a symbiosis of sounds that embody the experimental desire for the "new", and is highly successful in this goal. The desire for this "freshness" leads to innovation and risk taking. What comes out of it is something uniquely funky and bootylicious.
The tracks by Alpha Channel, Equisol, and Indigom are especially dominant and most successful in the album’s intent. I am most aesthetically attracted to them because of their refinement and distilled grooves. The tracks by Bluetech, Psytrip, and Erth are also very rich in funky grooves that are undeniably catchy. The other tracks by Biotone and Caldera are very well produced songs, which also personify the fusion objective with creative flare.
